I don't ride my own Harley yet... still sit behind the boyfriend... however I do sometimes steal his or my sister's Honda Aero (750) and ride. I love it. I would have to agree w/y'all... wish I'd learned to ride long ago. I also will be at Sturgis this year again... course... the fact that I live in South Dakota helps... it's only a 6 hour ride (or so). I'll just be getting started on my weight loss... but I'm sure I'll enjoy it more this summer than any in the past!!

Hey Tony, Congratulations on your weight loss! I know what you mean about feeling too big to ride. That's where I am right now. I don't feel in control of my riding sometimes. I feel too top heavy for it, and my legs are bigger so I don't get to flat foot it that well when I'm stopped (big legs & hot pipes are no fun!). But, it will get better for me once I have the surgery and the legs get smaller. Sounds like you've got a good grip on your riding now. I will check out your pics in a little while. I think the Laconia event is up in your neck of the woods, so maybe you can check that one out first. I'm sure people *****ad this board are looking for someone to ride with too. Take care and ride safe. Lori

Topic: Just wanting to say HELLO
Hi everyone I just came across this board and wanted to say HELLO It is nice to see a Harley board so all of us riders have a place to post no matter what kind of ride we have. I ride a 99 Softail Custom that I have purchased right after my surgery. I was to big to ride it when I first got it but it was my goal to become thinner so I can ride it. I am a little over two years out since I started this journey and have lost 215lbs so far and still drop a pound or two but I am not trying to lose anymore. I already have had my Plastic Surgery and had 15 1/2lbs of skin removed so riding my Harley is so much nicer now. I started out at 420 and I am now at 205lbs. My next goal is to go to one of the bike weeks somewhere but where I live in upstate NY there are not a lot of people to ride with so I would have to go to one of these by myself which would be kind of hard. Anyway enough about me and I hope everyone has a safe ride this summer and also a safe journey no matter where they are with there WLS. If you would like to see a picture of my ride just click on the WWW under my post and you can see my bike as well as a few other pictures of me throughout my journey. Tony

Love those V-stars. As my friend on the Harley board says it's not what you ride but THAT you ride. Welcome.

Congratulations! I got my '04 1200 custom last summer and love it. I now have (almost) all the extra stuff on it that I want, and it's so much fun. I'm a short woman so was worried about holding it up, etc. Took the motorcycle through our local vo-tech and passed and got my license. What a blast - have fun and be safe! Jenni

Thanks Rodger, I haven't been able to ride much lately because of knee problems. I have had 2 surgeries on my right knee and this extra weight I'm carrying is not helping. Any weight down will be a definite motivator!

Hey folks, Don't get too stuck on the idea of being at goal at Bike Week. EVery pound that goes away between now and then will make the event more fun. I'm down 56 pounds and riding is way better than it was. It is a total motivator! --Rodger

Well, I rode for about an hour on Wednesday, and again today for about an hour and a half. No problem at all. I'll take another short one tomorrow. After I wash today's bugs off. My op was lap, and it has been a breeze so far. Figuring out what, how, and when to eat has been a bit of an experiment, and my eyes are waaayyyyy bigger than my stomach. Gotta figure out a good way to carry some water on the bike. Saw an old timer today that has a bicycle water bottle on each fork leg. I don't know about that...... --Rodger

Congratulations!!!!! The time between now and July will fly for you, even just taking an easy graceful pace through all of the remaining steps. At least it did for me. And it was a good way to do it because the stress level is lower and easier to handle. I feel for the folks that are fast tracked all the way down to the wire. It must be nerve racking to have the date come really quickly. Don't forget to follow those nurses' instructions...... --Rodger
