My Lap Band surgery is tomorrow!
Ahh the time has finally come! I have to be at St. Vincents at 6AM tomorrow! Yes I am a nervous wreck and excited all at the same time!
SO what all do I REALLY need to take? I am wearing stretchy cotton capris there and a t-shirt. I have an extra pair of cotton pants in case I want to wear pants home, but plan to wear the same shirt home that I wear there. Do I really need anything else? It is only a 1 night stay so I don't want to take a bunch of stuff I won't use. Guess I need deodarant and a tooth brush and slippers?
Any suggestions on what to take would be good.. the less stuff the better!
I think I am more nervous about being away from my kids, even if it only for one night. My husband is going with me and my parents are meeting us there, then my sister has to take my boys with her to work because we have no one else to keep them. My husband has to leave the hospital around 12 or 1 to go back to work but my parents will stay with me until evening. Then I will be alone and my husband will leave work on Wednesday to come pick me up and take me home.
Any way thats my plan, just felt like sharing.
Leanne,
Good luck with your procedure tomorrow! You will be taking enough if you take your tooth brush, deodorant, and slippers. I think that you will want to wear loose fitting stuff around the waist. I wish I would have had a loose fitting night gown or dress. I went in my PJ's and came home in them. I had the RNY though. I will be praying for you and your family. Wish I would have known that you needed someone to watch your children maybe I could have done it. Anyway good luck! Michelle J.
Leanne,
I would be more than happy to check on you and update the board if you want just email [email protected] with your info.
I will have you in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Hugs and Blessings, Gail

Leanne,
I'm so excited for you, and am sure you're going to do great! Bring your toothbrush, hairbrush, deodorant, slippers, and loose pj's. And if you wear glasses or contacts, bring those. Don't bother with an extra change of clothes or underwear, from pre-op time till you're ready to leave you'll probably be in the hospital gown. I brought a fiction book and puzzle books but never really used those. I spent the time either dozing or walking.
Good luck, and get ready for a heckuva ride!

I brought so much stuff with me when I had my band surgery, but here's what I ONLY used. Non slip slipper socks, clean undies for the day I went home, CHAPSTICK!!!, deo, and a tank with a built in bra. That tank with a built in bra will be your best friend while you heal, at least it was for me. Remember to walk .... walk... walk... walk.. and walk some more to get all that gas out. Also... from experience..... no matter what your head tells you..... DO NOT COMPARE YOUR WEIGHT LOSS TO ANY ONE - ESPECIALLY AN RNY'er UNTILL YOU HAVE HAD SIGNIFICANT RESTRICTION. Please... Please... remember to give yourself at least six to eight weeks to heal from this surgery and then at least two if not three fills before you will start loosing significant weight. Don't let your mind trap you that you are not, can not, nor will not be successful in this surgery because you will, you can, you've taken the first step.
Good Luck....
