bcbs PPO Ohio

We have just changed insurance coverage. Last year we had Medical Mutual and I found out that I have thyroid disease, diabetes 2 , and diverticulosis.  Now these are things that came up in the past year I won't go into other diagnosises from the past (fatty liver, reflux etc) Anyhow I have a doctor's appointment in March for a follow-up for my diabetes, and I wanted to ask about the lap-band.....Anyone have any information about BCBS in Ohio???

I would suggest starting by either accessing your policy online if you can or check your policy if you have a copy of it. If all else fails you call and ask if your policy has coverage for it. Make sure if they tell you that is excluded that it doesn't say something like excluded unless for the treatment of morbid obesity. If it does have that little bit of extra wording that is good news. I also have bcbs PPO in OH.  I went to their website and they state that they will pay for either surgery with >40 BMI or > 35 BMI/health issues.  They will also pay for a tummy tuck 18 months post surgery for certain conditions (rashes, infections, etc.) I am actually calling sometime this week to start talking about the contract rates for hospitals, dr..etc.  I am also going to ask about a required medically supervised diet.  If this is required, I may get started while I am still thinking about the surgery.   If I can find the your post, I will post an update once I get ahold of bcbs.
