Topic: RE: Looking for insurance plan - need advice/help
Hi discordya ,
I dont know if this is a valid option for you, but I work for Blue Cross of NC. We offer GROUP policies , these can be as few as one person and as many as thousands of people.
It seems that maybe you are applying for Individual plans, these are usually more expensive and carry higher premiums.
Hope this helps some, I dont know enough about your area to direct you to a company but it could be worth checking out. Since you are self employed that will help you get it I believe. Contact the Insurance companies Group Sales Dept and check into it.

Good Luck!!
Marc

Topic: RE: United Healthcare... conflicting info on requirements
My daughter has UHF and they are now telling her the 6 month requirement also. However that policy became effective july1 and she had been for everything already, just didn't have the approval from UHF. I want to know how to appeal this. Does anyone know of someone I can pay to backdate nutrition notes, I know that's bad, but hey I think UHF waited on her approval until this policy went into effect. Any help???

Topic: RE: Coventry Healthcare of Georgia
I have Coventry, Missouri, exclusionary policy for any WLS.   I was self pay for VSG.  I was told by the program, CVTY that is that they would pay for SE of obesity, strike, loss of limb due to DM, etc... but nothing wellness related eg WLS.  They only offer /$100 for Weigh****cher program. Such a pittance.  I even work for Coventry!!  Good luch and God speed. Maja

Topic: RE: Insurance won't cover so I need $25,000
Hi I just wanted to let you know and anyone else that has to self pay, that I have been looking into VSG weight loss surgery and I do not have insurance. My best friend had Gastric Bypass at Jupiter medical Center by Dr. Jefferson Vaughan in Jupiter FL and I know a few other people that had their WLS there and they finance EVERYONE!! My friend actually had insurance but I don't. It is a great hospital and he is a great Doctor. It is a teaching hospital also where he actually teaches other Doctors about WLS.

"VSG surgery" is $5300 down and they will finance the rest through the hospital, total is about $16,000
"Gastric Bypass" is $7300 down and they finance the rest, total is about $26,000
"Lap band" is about $4200 down, from what I remember and the total is about $12,500
I am so excited, still trying to save the rest of the $5300, almost there....

Well good luck, hope you get your surgery, $25,000 is a lot of money.. Look into Jupiter Medical Center... I have pics of my friend before and after and in the hospital with the Doctors and more info if you want it...    :)

Topic: RE: aetna insurance help?
 Hi,
I'm in touch with both also, I have been sending some of my stuff out to GHP I guess I'll just wait for the last appointment and gather it all up. My requirements for surgery are the same for any WLS I don't have to meet anything different to have the DS thank goodness.

They keep asking me which surgery I want, I tell them I havent made up my mind seeing they don't offer the one I want. Just seems that its always much more difficult dealing with insurance compaines. Good luck with your approval. :)
