hi tara,
well my highest was 226 .
i weighed about 210/212 ish the day of surgery.
i am know about 192.
i think i should way about 130.
my weight loss is very slow.
if i don't exwecise, i do not lose.
i am not sure if it is because i less to lose or my age( 58) or shoe size...lol.
anyhow, it is coming off very slow, but "slow and steady wins the race", so i am happy to lose what i have.

Tara,
Having lost 20lbs already, I have a goal of 70 more left. That's my personal goal. I want to weigh 125lbs someday, that's my "ideal" weight for my height and I don't think I weighed that since I was 14 and I'm darnned well gonna get there this time. So for me it's gonna be 95 total lbs.
For my insurance approval, it didn't require that I was 100 lbs or more overweight since I had other co-morbid health problems.

Thanks for your responses everyone!! I feel much less alone now
And it's good to have a head's up that it will probably come off a little more slowly than others.
In response to the 100 lb question, I don't think it's that way for everyone. I have a BMI over 35 plus two (or more!) co-morbidities. That's the requirement for my insurance to cover it.
I think your height has a lot to do with it too. I'm only 5'2", so even at a BMI of 40, I still wouldn't have 100 lbs to lose (realistically).
Thanks again!!
Tara
I had a BMI of 40 and need to lose about 80 - 90 pounds. At my highest and when I went for my first consult I was 223, am now down pre-op to 210. I expect/hope to lose at least 75 lbs, but more would be better. I am 58 and 5'1" My doctor said the lap band was the right surgery for me and I should be able to at least lose 65 % of my excess weight. (That is what he typically sees) but of course some lose more if they are disciplined.
Hi, I was banded on Dec. 16th, 2005 and weighed 220, I have lost as of this date, 30lbs., although I have not really had a loss for approximately a month. I think it is because I need a fill and also I got some food stuck in my eshopagus about a month ago and have been afraid to eat solids on a regular basis so for this reason, I think I am in slow mode right now.
My Doctor has decided to give me another fill, but only under florolight (I think that is the term) anyway, he wants to be precise with the fill, so that I don't have any more problems. His words to me are that This is the Lap Band and not gastric bypass, he feels that my weight loss is good and that I should be happy. He says that one of the reasons the lap band got a bad Rap in this country is because too many doctors are making too many adjustments on the band and that leads to Hernia's and other complications. He is very conservative when it comes to Fills and wants to be sure this is what you need. I think I am kinda glad he is like this, as I do not want any complications. I have already had my scare with the food getting stuck and spending the night in the hospital.
Anyway, I will let ya know how my next fill goes, I get it on April 13th.
Thanks, for always being here for me. This board is the BEST!
Luv,
Carol
