How to make a high-capacity weight scale

Hi, My starting weight was 570 pounds.  Although I own a Health-o-Meter "Doctor's Scale" it wouldn't weigh me. This photo shows how I modified the scale by drilling a tiny hole through the pointer tip of the scale. I used dental floss to hang lead fishing weights from the hole in the tip of the scale, than asked a friend who weighed over 250 pounds to weigh themselves on the scale. Since the scale had so much more weight on it, their weight came up "Short" 211 pounds, which is what the lead fishing weights added to the scale's capacity. Since the original capacity of the scale was 350 pounds, I now had a scale that would weigh 561 pounds. I added a smaller weight, which is now removed, in order to weigh myself at my all-time highest weight of 570 pounds. I have marked "211" on the front of the scale to remind myself that the weight on the scale is actually 211 pounds LESS than the scale reads. This is a very inexpensive and reliable way to increase the weight capacity of a balance-beam scale, and the scale continues to be dead-accurate with repeated weighing year after year. The scale showing the added fishing weights, suspended from the tip with dental floss. A detail picture of the tip of the pointer, drilled out to accept the dental floss which suspends the lead fishing weights. The front of the scale, showing the "211" notation, to remind me that the scale weight shown is 211 pounds LESS than true weight.
