Cannot stop this crying

Not sure if this is due to the effects of being knocked out for surgery or lack of food...but today I just broke down in tears when asked what I was allowed to eat! Have not stopped crying ever since. I'm not even a week out so I can't believe that I am missing food this much already.  OK I am , but not enough to make me cry like a baby endlessly. What were some of your emotions after the surgery?

I had a complete melt-down when I was 1 week post-op. It's a normal reaction to anesthesia. It will get better, I promise!!

It is very common to feel that way after any surgery.  Then on top of it, you can not eat what you want.  Try to stay well hydrated, get in as much protien as you can.  If you can have creamed soups, they help with the hunger.  Get lots of rest and pamper yourself as much as you can. Good luck

Thanks, I guess it is just hard to believe right now.  I know the saying

"this too shall pass" but would be easier with a hoagie!

Hi, I too was extremely emotional after surgery, but I promise it gets better, you have been through hell!!!!  give yourself some time, get some good rest, and sip, sip, sip those liquids and before you know it you will be feeling better. And in time you will be able to eat most anything you want, just in moderation, I've read posts that people here eat hoagies and alot of the foods they liked pre-band just in smaller portions. And remember why you did this to begin with, for your health and happieness. We are here for you.  Lyndee

After my one-week check up appt, on my way home, I called my mom to tell her how it went, etc... and I pretty much cried the entire 2 hour trip back to my house on the phone to her.   I don't know what it was, but I could not stop. I went home, went to bed, and woke up the next morning feeling fine. I've NEVER been that emotional before! I'm not sure if it was the food deprivation or what. Don't worry, it will get better!

That was me last night. Hubby leaves for work every Sunday night (he's gone 5 days a week) and for the first time in a year I was balling about it.
I am 10 days pos-op and the moods roll faster than a roller coaster.
Fell asleep early, woke up feeling fine and moved on with the week.
Still hungry though.

Hello!  I haven't had the surgery yet.  Just saw the surgeon and we are hoping for February.  However, I have had general anesthesia (inpatient surgery) 3 times and I always cry hysterically before a week is out.  So maybe it is the anesthesia.  I hope you feel better.

That's odd...I haven't cried at all. So either a meltdown is coming or the lexapro is doing it's job!
