Krista, Check out my profile and you can read from Feb-Aug and see I have been struggling from day 1.  I actually got to the point last week where I just said screw it! I am working to hard to get no results it just isn't worth it! (1200 calories or less, the gym 6 days a week for at least an hour and I have good restriction) I have been losing at best half a pound a week for a long while.  Anyway,   I through the band rules out the window for a few days and when I weighed myself knowing how BAD I have been I was really worried! Well......I lost 2 pounds!  That gve me motivation to keep trying and now I am back on track!

My band was removed due to a slip and replaced 7/3/08

Hello.....I understand your frustration, I am going thru the same thing right now. For me its been like 5 days and the scaled hasn't moved...so I'm trying to stay off the scale. However I walk daily, I'm weight training as well and I'm eating right. I havn't had my first fill yet, but day by day my pants keep getting looser so I 'm focusing more on that and staying off the scale. So my advice to you is to continue to do all the things you're doing and add that excersice after the holiday...you already got it fiqured out. You'll do just fine. Be Blessed Ms.Cleo

Lap Band on 08/01/06 with
carbs.  sugars.  grains.  corn, crackers, fruit = carbs.  when it comes to weight loss, carbs are the devil and must be controlled.  there are carbs everywhere so don't worry too much about getting enough unless you're eating nothing but straight  protein.  increase your protein, water, veggies (fiber).  fiber + carbs are okay but again, the numbers are important.  fiber cancels some carb grams.  get a good calorie/carb/fat counter and keep it handy.  the favorite around here is calorieking's. my husband is a diabetic so we're really into the carb/fiber/protein thing.  he's losing weight without trying (the rat!).  but no more white sugars, white flours because there is too little fiber. the rule with carbs is make them worthwhile.  if you HAVE to eat them, make sure they are not processed.   if they're processed, the fiber is removed, they will shoot through you and not add much of anything but idle calories and CARBS! good luck! (yell all you want, I can't hear you )

Thanks for the great advice. I'm following the post op diet that I was given by my doctor's office and  really was hoping that was going to work for me, long term. I'm going to read your advice and all the other folks as well again and again. Something good will sink in.

Krista, Try only 1-2 servings of grain a day.  If you're at all carb sensitive, the 4 servings will cause you to retain fluid. Kick the ham -- it's salt city.  Once again, it'll cause you to retain fluid. Watch how much cheese you eat -- salt. Try taking in 1000 calories one day and 1400 the next.  Sometimes mixing it up jolts your body out of the plateau. Exercise.  Even if you don't lose the weight, you'll lose inches. Lastly, it happens.  As I indicated in a previous post -- I once lost nothing for two months -- while dieting and swimming a mile a day.

Thanks - I always enjoy your posts. Partially because you are a kickass speller and very literate :) Also because you call a spade a spade. I read your post the other day about getting enough sleep and thought to myself "Shoot! I am already doing that!" (Love my sleep!) 1-2 servings of grain? I'm not happy about that idea at all :( I think I will share my food with the dietician next time I am there and see what she thinks. They advised me on Canada's Food Guide but sometimes you folks have more "insider information" than they.

Are you doing the same thing over and over? Same foods, same time, same amount of water, same amount of calories, etc etc and etc?? Of course the exercise would help but you do know that the body adjusts and then when that happens, it will coast along.  Kinda like putting on the cruise control while on a flat road, the car gets to that speed and then coasts along, saves gas (fat).   My first serious diet years ago had me actually gaining some weight back and I couldn't figure out what was going on.  I said the heck with it and went to McDonald's and had a big Mac, order fries and large coke.  Next day I got on the scales to see how much damage I did.  Well, I had LOST again!!  Sometimes you have to shock and rechallenge the body. Wake it up and get on a different track.  I know that WW figured this out a while back and put out a new 'diet' plan. Same amount of points for so many days and then up the points for a day or two and then drop below the orginal points for a day.  Then back on track to your regular points.  A lot of women were losing weight faster that way.

And then the old body gets stuborn and decides to hang onto it's fat for a little while longer before finally deciding you aren't starving.

Mix it up and see what happens OH, yeah BTW you are still healing, any weight lost now is a bonus and you should be exercising. I'll be   when you come gunning for me!
