OT: Optifast Diet
I thought about Slim Fast, but I had that for a 2 week pre-op liquid diet for my band and that was so sickening. It didn't touch my hunger and after 10 days I started to throw up every time I tried to sip a shake. After 2 days of vomiting the shakes, I substituted soups and did better. I just heard so many promising things about Optifast...

Alyssa, I've never been on the optifast diet, but I have been using a lot of Protidiet Supplements. They have 15 grams of protein each pack/envelope. They are usually around 100 calories a serving, which is an envelope. They generally cost around $1 per pack and for example the chicken noodle soup, it comes in I think something like 7 envelopes in a box. I swear the chicken noodle soup is so good I'd eat it even if I didn't need the protein.
I liked the Protidiet drinks from concentrate, not the powdered ones, the shakes that come in a bottle with just the powder, because they are smoother and creamier than anything else I have ever tasted! Of course, this isn't the only shake I use, but just a FYI. I liked the protidiet chocolate banana pudding, to die for! They have a lot of cream soups, but some like them, some don't. I've even heard they have eggs, but haven't tried them.
To make protein shakes taste better I do this occasionally... I get this sugar free caramel topping like smuckers for icecream and put one to two tablespoons of that in them. I sometimes put a tablespoon of ground almonds in the protein shake for the omega 3. I especially like to add a tablespoon or two of international sugar free cafe, or sugar free cappuchino mix to the shake if I'm in a hurry and can't use a blender.. I put it in for instance a dry leftover glaceau "vitamin" water container, which doesn't leak, and I put 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1 scoop of vanilla and two tablespoons of cappuchino mix and then I can take it and put it in a bag for later use, since it doesn't have water in it. It's convenient and portable.
I don't normally add things to a protein shake every single time I have one, since the calories of it all. But really for me it is comparable to any solid protein and does fill me up.
Just for the peeps who aren't protein shake lovers, I do understand the importance of solid protein. I would rather get my protein from solid forms, but in the instance of after any throwing up or a too tight band in the morning I have a protein shake. On my doctors orders he always tells me if I am low on protein or whenever to have one. He's the expert, not I. I do honestly try and get my protein in from food though. Good luck to U! Hope ya feel better!

Hi Alyssa, I did Optifast 3 years ago. I did it for 12 weeks. Nothing but the shakes, one soup and one bar a day. I loved the strawberry, and the chocolate was okay. I bought the ready to drink boxes for convenience. Everyone is different, but I absolutely loved the strawberry! I wish I had access to some now...
It's funny... I hear that chocolate is to die for then strawberry is terrible. You I hear the opposite! LOL! I wonder if I can get samples before I buy cases or packets. I don't know if the ready to drink method would work for me or if the powder would. I would have to have 2 of them while at school, so I'm trying to think of portability and being discrete as well...
