Stomach hard, Port aching - Feel Like

Hey:  Over the past few days, my port area has been aching especially when bending over to dry off my legs after a shower or tieing my shoes....yesterday had my hub tie my left shoe!  Now today, I woke up with a hard stomach, port aching and feeling like I am gonna throw-up.  I know over the past two days I have introduced bread (good bread) with no issues getting it down, but I am wondering if I should have just stuck to my mushies like I have been told to by my NUT (1 more week to go and first fill).  I still haven't had TOM (due 11/8) either.  I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this?  I am gonna go on liquids today to ease the stomach.  Any advise or information would be helpful.  Thanks everyone.  Katie.

Hi there,  I found the port area very sensitive for a while. I sometimes still get an uncomfortable feeling near my port. I dont think introducing a new food would bother the port area but I'm no doctor. Give your doc a call to reassure yourself.

Thank you for your response.  I will definately call on Monday if after a few days of calming liquid foods I don't feel better.  This is all just so new with things happening to the body...I love coming here for advise.  Katie.

I was thinking about gas to, eat some gas X and see if that helps out.  You might have enough built up that its pushing on your insides.  If it's not all you've done it had some gas x no harm done.

Never thought about that -- it definately could be gas -- will try some gasx and see what happens.  Like you said, no harm done!   Thanks -- Katie.

Hey Katie, I will say from time to time that the port area will be a bit sore, even a year out cause as you lose the weight the fat that surrounded the port is moving so it will cause a bit of pain. I have had some pain due to losing most of my weight, and the port is more noticeable especially when I do specific exercises you'll see this bump from my stomach...it's weird. The sensations I have had were like an itching sensation...needle *****ly feelings...and i would have the urge to scratch. Just remember you have nerves around the area of the port, just be careful and when it does hurt just take care of yourself and don't over do it.  Kelli

Hey Kelli:  I have heard that the port can cause some weird sensations some times, so I am not extremely concerned.  I thought maybe the bread was causing the problem and expanded my stomach and the port is just irritated.  I had back and gallbladder surgery over 10-20 years ago and you are right about the nerves, its a weird sensation.....I will just take care today and tomorrow -- making some turkey soup with the bones...all homemade!  That should be good anyway.  Thanks for your feedback! Katie  P.S.  You are inspiring -- love the bike!
