Did you have to drink a whole bottle of Milk of Mag. day prior to surgery?

Hi, I've not had the delight of drinking this stuff yet...but a whole bottle of it in one period...I am seriously anxious about it! Thanks, Tera

I had to drink that Phosa soda before my surgery.  It tasted like a cup of sugar with lemon flavoring mixed with 1 tsp or water.  Good luck getting it all down!

Yikes, I hadnt heard that before.  I was not required to take anythign the day before surgery.  Good Luck, it sounds awful!

I had to d o 2 bottles - not sure if it was milk of magnesia -or what it was called -but it was a major laxitive and it cleaned me out.  Not to be gross.. but some advice - go get some baby wipes with aloe and some baby butt cream - coz if you are like me - it felt like my hiney was on fire by the end of that day - I was in tears... it hurt so bad!  Not a pretty day  - probably the worst part of the whole darn surgery'!  But then again -I am kinda a big baby - so keep that in mind.  And it is all worth it!  Anne

I had to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate. My body had never been as cleaned out as it was after I drank that stuff.

Hi Tera, fortunately it is only 8 oz. Some bowel preps are a gallon of fluid. Are you thinking of mag citrate. It tastes like unsweetened pop. Mona

No bowel prep.  My surgeon says that's only necessary for RNY patients.  They're not going near your intestines when they put on a lap band.

Why would you need bowel prep for the Lap Band? Did you ask your doctor?
