Please Help. Can't even keep water down.

I got a fill yesterday, it was a small one, not even 1 cc.  I was FINE ALL DAY yesterday, not one problem.

Today I can't eat anything and I can't even keep water down unless it's the teeniest of sips, which is like just wetting my tongue.  I'm guess I need to go for an unfill.

I am under a tremendous amount of stress right now, so I think my band problems are more in relation to the stress than the fill.  I don't know.  I don't want an unfill because I was looking for food and eating a lot the past week.  I NEEDED this fill.  I don't know what to do.

Should I unfill?  Are there any destressing tips you can help me to deal with so I won't need an unfill?

It really sounds like you need to get some taken out.  At least your swallowing saliva.  Maybe try some hot apple juice just not tea or coffee, that would make you tighter.  Maybe even some lemon and honey with water.  See if it loosens up any, but if not, I'd get back in tomorrow.  Good luck!

I'm sorry you are experiencing this.

If you can't get your water down, you need an unfill.  It is very easy to get dehydrated and could cause all sorts of other problems.  Please please please call your Dr first thing tomorrow and get an unfill if you can't get your liquids in!

Best of luck

Linda

It could definitely be the stress!

Destress tip - square breathing:

Breathe in for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, breathe out for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts. It will relax you.

If you can't do 4 counts of holding your breathe, do at least 2...

Thank you, I will try that.  I just feel like crying.  I felt so good yesterday, not one issue.

Hot juice or warm juice too.  How about chicken broth, is that along the same lines?  I know I'm dehydrated. I have a massive headache.  I'm trying to sip sip sip.  It was like 90 with high humidity today and I was packing and cleaning, dealing with unwanted guests.... I have drank maybe a total of 8 oz all day.  I haven't urinated since this morning.  I wish I could hang an IV bag on myself..lol.

If it's not better by tomorrow am, I'm calling the surgeon first thing.   I hate how I feel right now.

Try a heating pad on your sternum area. Drink warm soothing water or tea. Avoid citrus juices, alcohol, or coffee those are all acidic and wont help you. If you dont have a heating pad, try standing in the shower with hot/warm water on your chest.

It sounds like you have residual swelling from the fill coupled with stress. If you cant ge****er down soon call your doc. I feel for you its sounds miserable....

Small  is like 0.1 cc- nowhere near a whole cc. A cc is is a BIG fill .

you're too tight!! Times of severe stress are the worst possible time to get a fill, and we never should!!

you're in trouble if you can't  even ge****er down and should call your doc now. But you won't dehydrate overnight.

We really should never get more fill when we are overeating because of extra stress. we very easily get ito BIG troule. the solution is to work on better stress contron, and better other habits, and have as little fill as posible.

The band is never meant to be a noose MAKING us stop eating - it is only meant as a reminder and help to our own sensible habits.

for now, this should help :

1. no fluids at all for 2 hrs
2. put a warm heating pad on your chest for 30 min (only) now,  and again in 90 min. to relax and open the stoma.
3.in 2 hrs, try sipping hot liquid -tea, apple juice, but  not coffee (a gastric  irritant)
One tsp at a time. then more if you can.

Don;t panic.

but you do likely need an unfill tomorrow for safety.   PLEASE NEVER try to keep a too-tight fill, as that is the #1 reason for all the serious band problems.

Thank you Sandy.  What you say makes sense.  I just was so worried about gainig back any of what I've lost and really wanted the fill.

I know I can't do it this way, if this is how I feel.  It will be quite awhile until the stressors go away.  I am dealing with a huge family uprooting and it's going to be at least 3 months until things are settled.  As much as I hate the way I feel right now, it scares the hell out of me that I might gain some weight back if I unfill.

You are more concerned with gaining weight than the possibility of a major complication?  It truly boggles my mind.  Please keep in mind the band is ADJUSTABLE  up or down.

It really sounds like you need an unfil.  I think kyou should call your dr.  I have had problems since my last fill also.  I have actually had to have some taken out.  I was the same as you I really needed the fill but now I have got some of it taken out & still loosing weight.
