HELP! Fainting spells. I could lose my band!
I'm so upset. I had my band on 12/16. Starting about 5 weeks ago I started having infrequent severe dizzy spells (I've had 4 in the last month) that prevent me from even standing up . I've nearly fainted 1 and 1 time did get so dizzy I did faint. It's not related to anything in particular but always happens about an hour after getting up in the morning. It's not blood sugar or hypotension (I'm actually hypertensive). I've seen my surgeon and 2 other doctors and noone knows what it is. I've stopped taking BP medicine in case that was it. I had a moderate dizzy spell yesterday (this usually happens before work) and saw my surgeon. The said they have never seen anything like this but think I probably should have the band removed. I'm so upset. I can't believe I went through all of this only to have it taken out. I'm trying everything I can to figure out what might be contributing to this. I think the last 2 times I might have been dehydrated The time before last I know I hadn't drank more that 8 oz that day. This week I was in the mountains at a higher altitude and not drinking like I should.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? I hear people wake up feeling pretty dehydrated in the morning. Does the band cause you to be prone to dehydration? I'm so afraid I'm going to have to take this out. HELP!!!

I'm not a medical professional, but I would have to wonder about dehydration. Why are you drinking only 8 oz a day? Can you not get it through your stoma, or what?

I just ended up in the hospital with 2 missing teeth over this very issue. My PCP says it's my blood pressure. I have high blood pressure but now it's really running in the low category. She said it's probably more related to the torsemide which is a diuretic. Not sure though, today I didn't take torsemide and it's on the low side. She told me that with every 10 lb loss they need to re-evaluate meds. If you have a bp monitor keep track of what's going on. I bought one on the way home from the hospital and just bought one to wear on my wrist at the gym.
