How come I have only lost 4 lbs. in 2 months?
Ihad my revision surgery (band over bypass) on 4/24/09, and I have lost only 4 lbs. M y first fill I felt nothing. 2nd fill this past Monday, and I am feeling a ittle something, but not to much. Is there still hope for me? Did anyone else loose little to none in the first few months, and still come out successful?
I started at 435 at time of bypass 11/24/03...lost 135 lbs. By 9/1/08, I had gained 60 lbs back. By band surgery, 4/24/09, I had lost 45 lbs. Now since band surgery I gained 3, and lost 4 lbs in the last month... i am so stressed with this yoyo game! I definetly have not been exercising like i should be....i have no energy. i take b12 injections, but i am so low they dont give me energy, and i have very bad anemia also that i take iron for.
Don't give up! It can take quite a few fills to get restriction. Even though you had bypass you must have stretched your pouch or stoma or both because you started to gain again so it will take you the same as everyone else to get restriction. It takes time. I was lucky, but my doctor is more aggressive with fills. I had my surgery four days before you and I have had 2 fills due for my third in about a week, but I don't think I need the third fill because I have restriction. If you are following the rules the weight will come off. I am at a stall right now and that happens, but start exercising and following the rules and it will happen for you. Good luck!!!
Are you counting calories or at least Protein? Are you changing the quality of food that you're eating or just relying on the band to control portions? You will lose by just controlling portions, but you will lose a lot more if you change the quality of foods you're eating.
You probably already know this, but I'm just trying to get more facts so I can truly offer help.

Don't panic! First of all, as someone said above, you don't have those "fast" pounds to lose that most of us do when we start dieting. Secondly, in the first month or so, you would have been eating an abnormal diet (liquids, purees etc) and that can have a major effect on loss - as we move back up towards solid foods, our body grabs any extra calories it can and holds on to them in case you decide to deprive it again.
The equation is very simple. If you eat fewer calories than you burn, your body must use stored energy - i.e. fat. So if you are eating properly, the weight will go. It may not be fast and I do agree that 4lbs in 2 months is slow. But it is the right direction.
SO you need to look carefully at your intake. Are you eating the correct number of cals? Drinking plenty of fluids? Exercising or at least being physically active?
Without restriciton, I am afraid you are basically dieting! It is down to you at them moment. ANd that is hard!
