How do you feel about it? Do you think it's helpful or not?

Seems to me that if it works for you, go for it! I think they aim for about 1200 cals a day of a balanced diet and the structure of the weekly weigh is great for many of us.  But IMO you might need to adjust the food expectations as they will push the low cal foods dieters can eat a lot of and we don't need the bulky, low nutrition foods to fill us.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I attend WW (joined about 3 weeks post-op) meetings.

I like the support from the meetings, and I use their scale as my 'official' weigh in each week.

I don't eat the 'recommended' number of points for my current weight, but I am getting my new eating habits reinforced and learning alot about 'filling foods'.

I go to WW as well.  Have been since before my surgery and still go.  I really like my leader and like the program as well.  Just like above, I don't eat my recommended points, but still appreciate the support and ideas I get there.

I just rejoined WW about two weeks ago.  I just felt I needed the structure and accountability.  I have to say it's the first time I've ever belonged where I don't have a problem staying under points!  Because I've joined so many times I think I just have a points mentality.  I don't mind tracking points, but I just hate tracking calories.  I really wasn'****ching my quantity when I was focusing on calories, but I know I stay where I should be by tracking points.  That probably sounds crazy, but points are just easier for me.  Certainly, I'm not following their diet plan totally - I don't eat the starches they recommend, stay mostly to protein veggies and fruit, but I think it's helping me.  I was stalled and since joining I've started losing again.  Also it's got me exercising regularly.   However, I've not told them I'm banded.  I'm not sure how they'd react.

None of their business anyway!!!!  They need to start a plan for WLS patients, if they dont' they might find themselves out of business 10 years down the road!!!!

I've thougth about it and may well do it.

Good post, thanks!

OMG that's a GREAT idea Sabrina!  A weigh****chers program specifically designed for WLS patients.  THEY SO NEED TO DO THAT -- I WOULD GO!!!!!!  Get a patent on that girl, before somebody steals your idea!!!!

I wish I had the time and energy to devote to it.  Tell you what, you get the patent for us and we'll do it together and split 50/50, I don't mind sharing the money if someone shares the work!!!  LOL.

I really don't think WW is a bad idea if it helps.  The weekly weigh ins are really good, but...I've spent all the money I can plus I joined the gym so, I am monied out right now.  I still so recently out of surgery that my pocket book still stings pretty bad from my part of the surgery cost!!!!

I've read here of many that attend WW.  Also those with other WLS.  It seems when people get closer to goal and stale they turn to WW.  The support and an "official" scale once a week weigh in seem to help.  My DD attends and she is always keeping track of MY points too.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.

I have been going to WW for about the past 3 months (I am 6 months out from surgery). I love going and to have the accountability each week. My leaders know that I have had surgery and they are so supportive! They understand that even though I have a "tool" I still have to make the right choices, because fattening things like ice cream can slide right on down! In the past 3 months I have lost 24.5 lbs and total since my highest before surgery  I have lost 76lbs. WW is fundamental for me to keep up with calories (in points) of how much I have a day. I love it and will continue to use WW as a tool with my band tool!! I too stay away from the carbs and heavy starches as they just do not work well with the band. Most of my points come from protein and veggies.
