Howdy yall!

I was talking with a friend the other day and we got curious...
For those of you who have already gotten the lap-band:

How long did it take you to lose 80lbs or 80% of your excess weight? (Assuming that everyone has to be 100lbs or more overweight to qualify for the surgery.)
Has it been over 2 years and you still haven't lost it?

I haven't heard that you have to be 100lbs overweight to qualify, just a BMI of 40+ or 35+ with comorbidities. I actually had 96lbs to lose and am almost at 70% of my excess weight gone in 10 months. I think I will be very close to 80% gone by my one year aniiversary in March.

Sleeve Revision from Lap-band November 23, 2012

     Starting Weight: 236 Lowest Weight w/ Lap-Band: 160 Current Weight: 190

                                         Goal Weight: 150...40lbs to go

I'm not sure if you're including pre-op, so I might not fit...I set my goal at 90-100 lbs. I lost 19 on the 6 mo. diet (most of that the last month just pre-op).  I am now 85 lbs. down total and reached a Normal BMI last weekend (3 pounds ago)...so I've lost 66 more pounds in the 9 months post-op.  I'm now 5 pounds from the top of my goal range (both in the normal BMI upper half).  Hope that made sense.  Oh, and I'd say I lost more slowly than some just because I started out at a lower BMI.

I lost 80 pounds in 5 1/2 months. I've lost at a faster rate than average. Everyone loses at different rates, there are a lot of factors.

Took me a year to lose 100 lbs so I'm thinking it was about 8 months for me to lose 80.

I needed to lose about 200 pounds. I lost 80 within about 5 months. The 200 were gone in 18 months. But then again, I am the exception and not the norm.
