Love it Or Hate it?

I love it. It has been perfect for me - a slow natural weight loss with lots of focus on eating well and exercising. I'm grateful for the lessons I've learned having it.

Love it!  has only been 6 weeks but down 32 lbs. and it is still a commitment to eating healthy. you cant even think that you can eat whatever because it wont work.  Its like a diet that actually works this time.

Love it! I'll try to make this short and sweet with just the highlights....I FEEL GREAT! And I'm down 6 pants sizes in 7 months. I've done so many things I thought I would never be able to do because of my weight. Can't even tell you how many times people have told me wow look at your tiny face. And my fav so far is them telling me I'm not fat anymore! I was a fat kid so my whole life people felt the need to point out and tell me I am fat.

I would love for you to post "Love IT!" if you love your band or "Hate It!" (or hated it if it was removed)....and some of your favorite and least favorite things about the band.  If you hate or hated it, please tell me why.

I'm not banded yet, but looking forward to knowing my date thursday. :)

Hated it.

There was nothing I liked about it.

I hated:

Never having a sweet spot
Puking in more ways than I knew were possible
Getting stuck
Constant aftercare
Highest regain of all procedures
Esophageal damage forever
Reflux
The port sticking out like a tumor when I got to goal
Expense
Sliming
Embarrassing to puke, slime, and foam in public situations
Port pain

Shall I continue?

I have a sleeve now.

wow, all of this stuff actually happened to you?  Yikes, that must have been tough.
I was told the port doesn't stick out like that...hmmm...I will ask my surgeon about it thursday.

What is foaming??

I know I probably won't go through any surgery that requires cutting on my stomach or intestines, so this is probably it for me regardless.

Yes, it all happened to me and more.  It happens to LOTS of us.  You should check out sleeve, bypass, DS, revision, and failed surgery boards.  That is where you will find the other side to this coin in band opinions.

The port most certainly does stick out if you get to goal.  I couldn't wear tight fitting shirts because you could see it through my clothes.  I had the low profile port.

Foaming... when you puke foam.

Each person has to find the surgery type that is best for them but sleeves produce much better weight loss than bands and sleeves are far safer than banding long term.

I HATE, HATE, HATE this darn lapband that quit working for me just 6 months after having it placed. Just  take a look at the previous post and you'll see when things went downhill. I was so excited about having this tool,  so ready to be a success story. I followed all the pre/post band instructions but nothing more. This band has been an embarrassment to me, as I've invested so much into this tool only to get 35 lbs. loss in the 1st 6 mos. and that's IT!  I'm working out 4 to 5 times per week, measuring my potions, drinking water and this thing just WILL not release any .lbs. I recently wen to see my NUT who told me that I was eating too little, so I bumped up my calorie intake from 1200 to 1500 and I GAINED 5 lbs. Okay, so that's what's so odd... I bust my arsh to loose, and nothing happens. I add calories and gain???? Why doesn't this happen in reverse.

Anyhow, I find that all the dieting, walks and modifications I did pre-band to loose weight that I'm still doing those things to not gain. Not only that, I can't sleep on my tummy without waking up due to night coughs. There is always a gurgle or burp going on...What I hate the most about this band is that I"M a FAILURE with it.  I maintain my weigh because I practice band rules and exercise but other than that it's a complete dud!  I'm so desperate to see some weight loss that I recently went to a weight loss clinic... Really, pre-band I wouldn't have imagined revisiting those places, fast forward 19-months post-band and I'm at a weight loss clinic looking for any help.

Telephoned my Dr. and explained the issues again for the umpteenth time. We are looking into another fill under fluro (last one Nov. 4th 2009). Also ordered the adipex and started those too... So far so good. I haven't weighed and I'm not sure what I weight but I can feel a change in my bra and my clothes, something is going on. I will keep y'all posted.

Darl'en, YOU are not doing anything wrong.  The BAND is screwed, that's the bottom line.

You hang in there, get a revision if need be but STOP blaming yourself!  STOP IT!
