Alcohol is considered like fat...3 glasses = 3 tbls of butter...also it is burned before fat, so it will slow down your weight loss. I love wine with dinner, but no drinking with dinner = no wine. I have had a glass before dinner, but did not find that I wanted any more, so wine may not be a part of my life very often. With the band your anatomy is not changed and you will metabolize just like you did before...with rny or ds you will have elevated blood alcohol relative to the amount consumed due to the lack of the upper part of the intestines. It hits you full on with no pre-digestion.

I still drink... and I just include it in my daily totals (calories).... I enjoy wine I like white but I try to drink more red because it's just better for you..

When I drink vodka I usually mix it with Crystal Light ... to keep the calories low.

I'm with Hermosa!!!

I drink all the time.

I went to a Cardinals game Saturday afternoon, had 3 Bud Light Limes.   That was all the alcohol I had for the week.

I enjoy a glass of wine before dinner about 2-3 nights a week.     Like Hermosa, I include it into my daily calories.

I have drank wine and have not had any negative effects at all.  I don't get drunk or feel the effects faster.  I miss beer but I am scared of the carbonation that it has.

I still drink wine, just not as often as I used to. I do miss my Blue Moon beer though! If I do go out and don't feel like wine or vodka I find that Guinness is easy to drink. Not much carbonation and it's pretty thick so I can just sip on it for awhile while my friends are on their 2 and 3rd beer. I can only manage to drink 2 since it's so filling. Like other posters I factor in the calories/carbs if I know I'm going out.

Studies claim that Guinness can be beneficial to the heart. Researchers found that antioxidant compounds in Guinness, similar to those found in certain fruits and vegetables, are responsible for health benefits because they slow down the deposit of harmful cholesterol on the artery walls.[26][27]

I'm not a wine girl, but I do like a ****tail.  So here's my plan and it has worked for me - ****tails when I am out of town and only on the most special of occasions while in town.  Note - I travel more than the average bear - so I'm not completely cutting msyelf off.  But limiting it to that helps me with caloric intake while I am in the groove at home.

I still have ****tails on the weekends, just beware that you are not finding yourself indulging more often that you used to.  Even us bandsters are susceptible to transfer addiction :)  I only offer that up because it happened to me and was a long, hard recovery.

I am two years out, and still drink.  I shouldn't, as my weight loss is not great.  I have read a lot lately that you should not drink alchohol while you are in a "losing" phase.  It is ok to add back in when you are in a maintenance phase.  But, alchohol and weight loss do not go together.  However, I do not follow my own advice!

I still drink wine almost daily and ****tails here and there on the weekends. I did not drink at all for about the first 6 months post-op - just to ensure a good jumpstart to my weightloss. I have been very successful, but could probably lose more if I cut out the wine. lol

Hope your day is great!
