Have any of you seen this?  It has 4-5 grams net carbs and 90 cals.  Would this be a good or bad option to eat?  I was just wondering, thanks!

Actually I bought some this weekend. I can tell you it does taste pretty good BUT makes you crave for more...

Too many carbs to waist if you only doing the 20 carb induction phase thing though.....

Just my opinion, but considering you are going to be banded tomorrow, isn't it a bit premature to be wondering about things like desserts and ice cream ????

If you are really serious about weight loss, you should be far more concerned at this stage of the journey with learning the band rules and trying to incorporate lifestyle changes to promote weight loss.

Worrying about sweets or other items that are not fundementally necessary for proper nutrition is something to consider when you are a lot closer to goal that just starting out.  (IMHO)

Not a great option, not because of the calories or carbs, but because if you happen to eat a bit too much it can really tear up your belly.  Its loaded with sugar alcohols and many people react adversely to them.  For me it leads to horrible gas pains, stomach cramps, and the runs.  Blah, so not worth it!!  (Now if things are "backed up it might be, lol)  I really think you are better off just eating one serving of regular old ice cream.  I will indulge in a 1/2C serving occasionally :)

I am not worried about them really I was just wondering, I had never seen it before and when I was at Wal-Mart I saw it.  I am not a huge sweet eater, I do like something sweet every so often but not all the time.  It would be a while before I could eat it anyways and I know that.  The liquid diet sucks for me because I can have unlimited sugar free jello and pudding and yogurt and stuff and I am getting tired of "sweet" stuff.  I would much rather sit down and eat a salad or chips or whatever then something sweet.  I am not saying I never eat sweets but they are not what I am going to "miss" after being banded.

You know, I'm not huge on sweets either but the surest way for me to crave them is to tell myself I CAN'T have them, lol.  I don't believe in deprivation, thats what all those years of dieting were.  I have to be able to live with this "diet" forever.  I refuse to swear off bread or pasta or ice cream forever.  Normal people eat all of those things.  As long as we still view certain foods as good or bad we still have disordered eating!  I allow myself to eat what I want, just in moderation.  I might want ice cream every night for a week.  I have it.  I don't expect to see the scale move much that week but since I ate a serving of it per day and not the whole 1/2 gallon in a sitting the damage is minimal, I don't feel deprived, and I'm satisfied to stop.  I'll admit that its nice to be able to buy ice cream and open the freezer the next day and see the carton still in there instead of empty in the trash, lol!!

I bought them and vow never to have them in my freezer again.  They had 170 cals though- ugh!

Ice cream is a huge trigger food for me.  Just knowing they were in my freezer was causing me to almost have an anxiety attack!  I'm glad they're gone!

I used to eat this stuff when I was on Atkins years ago and it stalled my weightloss. As a treat every once in awhile is cool, but a little here and there will sneak up on you. I know with me if I hae it in my freezer it will call me and I will take bites.
What I suggest is to eat berries, they are low in net carbs and if you put a little bit of artificial sweetner on it and a dollup of whip cream it satisfy's the sweet cravings. Also if you do the same and blend it really good in the blender, put it in a bowl in the freezer till it is almost all the way frozen it makes a good natural good for you icey or like ice cream...less carbs and calories. I still put a spurt of whip cream from the can on it! makes it seem more of a treat.

My husband likes the low carb ice cream. Actually he likes anything that's frozen called 'ice cream".  I don't eat it for two reasons, #1 see Kari's explanation about sugar alcohols above. #2 I love ice cream, but I'm an ice cream snob, I like the good stuff. This ice cream does NOT fall into that category. In fact other than the first trial spoonful, I've not been tempted to have another bite of it.  ( Nutrition-wise I think it has the same amount of cals and less carbs than 1 cup of skim milk)

Regarding the ice cream (and treats) thing in general. My nutritionist has told me basically that it is very unhealthy to label foods into good/bad categories. And, doing that usually results in the opposite behavior of what we want -- we tend to go for the bad stuff instead of the good because we feel so limited and deprived. With my nutritionist's and doctor's blessing I'm allowed to have treats sometimes as long as it's isn't  very often, they fit into my daily calorie count and I only eat just a small amount and really, really enjoy each bite. When I do it this way, I only NEED a very small portion -- band or not.

We all know there are certain foods that are not wise for us to indulge in very often and then when we do, to only have a little bit. So I hope nobody takes this as a license to eat a whole pint of ice cream or a bag of chips : )  Since following my nutritionist's advise I've never felt so liberated from food in my life. I'm losing weight, feel great and DO NOT FEEL GUILTY for having a bite of rich food. This mental change has been so incredible and has freed me from the "need" to overindulge.

I usually eat skinny cow because I like them or sorbet. Sorbet is so refreshing... I'm not sure if it's good or not if it causes you to eat more than 1 then probably not but I am the type of person who can eat 1and be fine.

Right now it being summer season I'm all about fruit.

it annoys me people who just judge and don't offer alternative points! Chin up... my dr doesnt suggest us low fat, low carb anything.....
