hello friends,
i am going to try the plateau buster diet,  starting tomorrow i think(for 10 days) i have a few questions about the menu or recipes. can anyone give me a few suggestions on how to fix the beans, legumes & what to do w/ the peanut butter/ I'm at a loss with those as i don't use either very often.(but i should) I'm not even real sure what legumes really are. Guess i should know more about them too ...
Thanks for any & all help you can give me

Legumes are a category of plant that are high in protein. They include things like lentils, beans, peanuts, and soy. Try some soups like lentil and black bean, you can make some low-fat homemade hummus, or put a table spoon of peanut butter into plain oatmeal to boost flavor and protien.

Do some google searches for recipes and you'll do fine.

Hope this helps,
Elizabeth

I often eat 2 tbs of peanut butter straight from the spoon.  It's a great source of protien!  You can also add it to a choc. protein shake since you need to add 45 g of protein supplement to your normal 60-80 g per day for this diet.  Edamame, (soy beans) are great too.  You can find them frozen in the pod, (my favoite), or already shelled.  Just steam them and pop them out of the shell directly into your mouth!  Great snack!
I like lentil soup and buy the organic variety at the grocery store.  Watch the sodium and additves like ham, etc. that add calories.  FF refried beens with salsa and melted cheese is also a favorite of mine.  I add pre-cooked shredded chicken too!

It's a good diet.  I lost 6 lbs last time I did it for 10 days!

There's also a great turkey chil recipe that's in the Hungry Girl's 1.2.3. cookbook.  There are a lot of quick receipe's in her books and they are often for one serving which is nice.  Early on I ate a lot of tuna salad mixed with LF cottage cheese as a good quick protein source, sounds weird but it's pretty good.

Best~

Hello,
there are a lot of people that are far better at explaining this than i am but ill give it a try, i read oh frequebtly. i find that many people get to a plateau & cant get the scale to move so they try this plateau buster diet & it seems to be successful for many people. here is the diet
Do this for 10 days to break a plateau
Drink 2 quarts of water each day (8 cups)
you must have 45 grams of protein suppliment & all of your vitamins & minerals every day.
You may consume up to 3 oz. of the following high protein foods 5-6 times a day
Beef- pork-chicken-fish- lamb-eggs-low fat-cheese cottage cheese-plain yogurt or artificially sweetened or plain yogurt --peanut butter-beans/legumes
you may also have
sf popsicles-tea or coffee-sf soda-sf jello broth or bullion-  crystal lite drinks
if its not on the list you cant have it for 10 days
keep a food diary & try to get up to 30 minutes of exercise daily
good luck
ive been on this for 2 days it is a little tough & restricting but i need ths scale to move!!!
regards, Mariolyn
