Hello Everyone!!

Hope everyone is doing well... I haven't been on the boards in a while..just posted for the 1st time a couple nights ago.. asking for advice on PCOS ..in regards to how it affects the band. Thanks Sooo much to all the ladies *****sponded..and for there encouraging words of wisdom.

Sooo here is the low down on what the hell's been going on with me. Well I got the band on xmas eve 2008 ... I lost a total of oh I dont even know anymore 70lbs maybe.. including the pre-op weight I had to loose .in order for my Doc to even operate on me...so ... since then in the last year I have gainer about oh I dunno 15-20lbs back!!  I know right..sucks! ANd to top off a fabulous year..I have just been diagnosed with PCOS and extremely high blood pressure... yea me. SSooo you would think these awful diagnoses would re-inspire me huh..well no..quite the opposite..but then again IVe been unmotivated for the last year... I just dont know what happened... I cannot for the life of me get my ass on the  treadmill..it just sits there im my living room giving me dirty looks..but I dont get it on it... when I think of doing it...ugghhh all of a sudden I feel heavier. (I'm nuts I know this) ....sooo  yea.. I just can't get my mojo back... I'ts really sad.. seeing that ur tad bit smaller clothes u had botten..ugghh no longer fit so good or at all..and that ur fat jeans are nice and comfy again and not falling off... =( ...

I really dont know what to do ..to get my head out of the sand ..and just get re-motivated ..and determined..I mean how does one become a determined goal oriented person? Any ideas? I know I know you gotta really want it..mmmmm yea that thought hasn't worked for me either.

So anyway here I'am 15-20lbs heavier with PCOS which I'm really scared about by the way and with High blood pressure. ...

Just wanted to vent with you guys..Im gonna try and get really involved with the whole band world again..like I was in the beginning maybe surrounding myself with it..will make me remember why I did this in the 1st place..

hope you all are doing much better.. best wishes always..
kiki.

Im sorry you're having a rough time. I have pcos and it took 12 years for me to diagnose myself and confirm with Dr.s .  Don't let it get in your way and do your own research. there is a great website soulcysters.com for pcos. don't lose hope

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time of it. I don't know if I have any words of wisdom that will help you or not. I do know that it is so easy to ignore the exercise equipment in my home. I joined a gym in May and find that I can stick to going to the gym. It helps that I have a friend who goes with me most of the time. I also find that working out at the gym, I am more motivated to exercise harder and to push myself. When I exercised at home, I would do my time on the treadmill or the with the DVD and call it done. After a while, it didn't seem to help anymore. I think my body just got used to what I was doing, and I wasn't really pushing myself to do anything harder. At the gym I also like to try the different classes that they offer. It gives me more interesting things to do and they are fun. I also recommend using a trainer at least a few times to get you started and to show you how to work out to reach your fitness goals.

Those are my only insights for you. I hope that they help somehow.

Boy, do I ever know how you feel!  I got the band approximately 5 years ago and only went from 225 to 185 (I am 5'2").  I am back up to 200 now.  Last year I got a fill (because I had not had one in over a year.  (The reason I had not had one was that everytime I ate I got sick, plus I was not losing any weight).  Anyway, I got a small fill, which did nothing for me, then got another small fill and wound up in the emergency room because I could not swallow and was dehydrated.  They emptied the band and after that experience I am really hesitant to get a fill again.

Hi KiKi,
I completely agree with Julie about joining a gym. I have a treadmill AND a bowflex AND a million workout DVDs and home which I only use occasionally. At the gym I am so much more motivated to push myself longer and harder. I find it incredibly inspiring to see everyone else working out and all the fit people all around.
The group fitness classes are always fun (Zumba, water aerobics, yoga, step classes). They help me stay on track because I don't get bored with the same old thing all the time.
I do have a girlfriend that goes with me most of the time...but I do like to go by myself now too!
There are many affordable options out there. Even if you can't join a gym look into the local school programs. My community offers many different classes that start at $5 a visit.
You can do it...the hardest part for me is always getting started. Commit to 30 minutes twice a week and work your way up from there.
Good luck to you!
Leslie

So sorry you are having problems..  I've had my band for 5 yrs.  Only lost 36 lbs....I am now in the process of finding a new Dr. (mine left the state and took medical records with him)   and hopefully having a revision to gastric by-pass...It's really hard to find a New Dr. who will accept medicare.  So just keep a chin up..think positive thoughts and belive you can do this...(I am gonna take my on advice)
Hope every thing gets better for you..
