Weird Feeling

Good Morning everyone,

Just wondering if anyone else feels this at times..

Last weekend by my port area I was getting some sharp pains.  After an hour it went away so I wasn't worried about it.

But now for a couple of days I get this "burning" feeling inside my stomach area.  It is not all the time..just sometimes.  Should I be worried?

I do have an appointment for a fill (if needed) on the 20th.

Thanks
Denise

Denise,

When you say the burning feeling is inside your stomach area, what exactly do you mean by your "stomach"? Like in your stomach the organ (which is fairly high up in your abdominal area)? Or do you mean in your abdomen near your port?

If the feeling is in your port area, is the area red, swollen, or hot to touch (signs of infection)? If so, call your surgeon ASAP. If there are no signs of infection, you may just have irritated your abdominal muscles through exercise, bending, lifting, etc.

If the feeling is in your stomach, is it triggered by eating or drinking? When I have a burning feeling in my stomach, it often signifies heartburn or reflux. Sometimes that's due to a too-tight band and sometimes it's provoked by eating or drinking acidic or spicy foods. I don't think it's an emergency but it's something you should mention at your next appointment.
