Does anyone take pills after lapband?
Is this direction for liquid vs pill from your primary care or your surgeon? You may need to see if there is something specfic about these meds that your doctor wants them in liquid. There could be some pills that if they sit too long they could cause issues. If your primary thinks everything needs to be liquid maybe your surgeon's office can help to clear up the misunderstanding.
My original directions were to take 1 or 2 pills every 2 hrs. At my FU with the surgeon I told him I had to be taking pills every 2 hrs day and night. He said go ahead and take them all at the same time. I take approx 8 am and pm. They include several capsules and I do not crush. I do take chewable vits and Ca.
I too tried the crushing for several weeks. It was terrible! I take pills in am and pm. Keep them small. If they are big, I cut them into we al small pieces and take them with water. I have had no problems with keeping them small and now I don't have that terrible taste! The surgeon recommended taking to the pharmacist to see which would work cutting.
I'm taking all kinds of pills. I have pain meds for my hip which will be replaced in a few months. I'm taking 2 pills every 4-5 hours, plus I just had a tooth pulled and am taking an antibotic so I don't get an infection, plus I have about three other meds. I have a chewable vitamin and liquid calcium with vitamin D I take. I don't have a problem. I also continue to take some things for constipation...which is a new experience I've had since having my band. No doctor has said anything otherwise, but just to let them know if I have a problem.

My surgeon told me the day of surgery that I could resume taking my meds in pill form the following day as long as I was careful. I have found that if I take my morning meds (I am tighter then) after my second cup of coffee I get them down quite well as long as I drink about 8 oz. water, too.
The steroids I have taken in the past have all been tiny tablets so they should be no problem. They can and do irritate your stomach and can cause your band to tighten due to the tissue swelling you can have with them. Just be aware. You are not the first bandster to have to take high doses.

My doctor has never said I couldn't take pills and even recommended vitamins I should take. That said I have found in the three years I have been banded I have been able to take every pill I have tried to swallow. But for some reason calcium pills make me sick to my stomach and kind of just sit there like a lead weight. So I do the chocolate chews now. I also do Centrum chewable multi vitamin, because I prefer the chewable form.
