Hi - My doc wants me to seriously consider the sleeve.  I have about 160 lbs to lose and I am still not 100% I can achieve that with the sleeve.  Any experiences (good or bad) with sleeve is appreicated.

Thanks,
Iman

Maybe you can post on the sleeve forum for more information. I had RNy so I really don't have any info for you sorry. Just want to wish you all the best and make sure to research as much as possible before making a decision.

Here is the link.

It's been great so far! Easy easy surgery, great recovery, you'll see on the sleevers' board how much people love their surgery. A few, but not many, have had complications.

I love my sleeve! I have much to lose also. On surgery day I was 465. Doctors goal is 180. I had surgery on June 16, 2008. Today I am 363- Loss of 102 lbs. Go for it! And visit our forum too!

It will be okay in the end. If it's not okay.... it's not the end!

I started with a higher BMI than you at my heaviest and lost 18 lbs pre-op.  I had my VSG on 10/10.  I'm just about 2 months out and have lost 55 lbs since surgery.

Definitely check out the VSG forum!

My doctor suggested the sleeve to me as well because I already have trouble absorbing calcium. He's afraid the malabsorption of RNY would have too many risks for me. I was also afraid that I won't lose as much weight this way. But, you have to think of your health. I don't know the reason your doc suggested it to you, but I'm sure there is a reason. I read the VSG board all the time now and I haven't seen many people "fail" with the sleeve.

Hi, I also have a great deal to lose 165 pounds. I have decided to have the sleeve done. I have been to a seminar and you should go and see what the differences are. I feel the sleeve is a safer surgery and  no bowel involvement. With the help of the staff and my surgeon I should be able to lose the weight. None of the surgeries are miracles. It takes hard work and a serious commitment to be thinner and healthier. It has taken me many years to get to this conclusion. I am sorry I have waited so many years, I am 52 now with health problems. I hope you can do more research and decide that the sleeve is right for you. Its not right for everyone but I do not want the bypass or the lapband.  Goodluck and stick with it, you are worth it.
