I have a Job Interview Friday and they want to make it a lunch interview.  I guess I will need to tell them about my surgery.  Would you?

Personally, I wouldn't. It's none of their business. Has nothing to do with whether you are qualified for the job or not, unless of course the job is a taste tester for a candy company.

I'd just go - order something healthy and light - and have my interview. If they happen to ask about your eating habits, just say you're trying to get healthy by eating less.

Just my $.02!   Good luck to ya!

I wouldn't tell them either, I can't imagine how it could be job relevant.  If, however, by chance it came up I wouln't try to conceal it.

I was always told they are judging you as to how you waould act in public so you want to be conservative anyhow. You don't need to tell them and like Bama said if they ask you care eating healthy and light. Always decline alcohol. Be conservative in your eating.

This has been a hot topic in Tuna Town before .   The consensus there seems to be NOT to mention it, unless you are applying for a job where it might be relevant (such as with a WLS center) ..

I opined that I thought it might be neat to mention it on a resume under "greatest personal achievement" or some such category ..  It takes guts to made the decision to have WLS and stick with it, and lose the weight ..  (IMHO, but then maybe the difference in gonads explains the difference of opinion) .

(btw, in response to Log Cabin dude's latest "Men's Forum invite post" in TT, one of the tuna hornets let it be known that in TT our forum is now known as "Weiner World"   )

One possible drawback to mentioning that one has had WLS is that some, if not most, people have many misconceptions, misinformationm and even biases against such procedures. Employers might feel that such an operation may make one more prone for future health problems and operations or complications, that the employee may miss work in the future due to this, and that it will increase the claims and costs of insurance for them.  Just a thought to keep in mind.

Unless they point-blank asked me "Have you had WLS?", I personally would not tell them.  It's really none of their business, unless it is relative to the position (such as working for a WLS center). And it wouild not be a lie to simply state that you are now eating better, exercising, and trying to improve your health through a better lifestyle.   Again, just my take on it!!
