BLOOD WORK RESULTS...

Its it possible that as you are losing such a high degree of fat/weight so quickly that this is temporaily driving your total chol or LDL up as your body metabolizes it? I had not heard of that happening, so I'll leave that question to our medicos on here ..
In my case, all my lipid levels plumeted to under 3 digits after my surgery .. This last testing my total chol. just came up (@ 2 years out) to 100 exactly, which some charts say is still below normal range (min. 125).
As to the good HDL, mine went down too after surgery to below normal range (40 min.) and only on this last test did it come back up and is actually now within the normal range (barely) .. I really haven't done anything out of my way to get it there, as I've heard only exercise will do so (or taking fish oil supps or eating avocados - yuck) .. so maybe it's just something that took time for my body to make final "adjustments" to .

Total Cholesteral was 230.. But lets just say that the GOOD was low and the bad was HIGH. I dont have the break down infront of me. But, I'll get a new reading next month. HOPEFULLY it will be as he said nothing to worry over for now. I am going to do everything with in my power to make sure its better next time.

Yeah, same thing hapopened to me. Had my surgery April 28, 2008. 6 weeks ago, my HDL (good) cholesterol was 29 (normal is 60 and they want it to be at least 44). My LDL (bad) cholesterol had increased to 115 (they want it at 70 or less). I've lost over 130 pounds, have been exercising everyday, and this happened. I asked my Doc what was going on and he said "You can't choose your parents - it's just genetics", So, I had to start back on the Crestor. Had my lab work don last week and my HDL was up a whole 1 point to 30, whoop-d-deee! But, my LDL was down to 59, which is great, and my triglycerides were 78 which is also great. The Doc said that the only thing I can do is try to eliminate all other risk factors, which I have done and continue to do. As for the HDL, there isn't much I can do to raise it other than take niacin, which helps a little, but can leave you feeling flushed.
