More water, buddy....more water. That's one of the side effects from protein. If you're getting your liquids in, or even if you're not, you may want to ask your doc for a stool softener. You don't want to end up with a hernia from the strain.

Bigger crap and gas are two things I did not count on pre-op for some reason.  I'm sure I was warned.  I feel like I give birth every couple of days and have learned to value fiber and fluid in my diet. Before I was allowed to eat more food with fiber in it, I began adding tasteless fiber to my protein shakes in the morning.  That helped.  I have also had to plunge out the toilet several times now because of the size and consistency.  Sorry to tell you that... Not sure it happens to everyone, but it is one of the things I live with.

a small amount of apple or raisins.  Raisins are good for keeping you regular and it has alot of potassium...

Might have given yourself an anal fissure.  AKA a tear in the poop chute.  It does not have to be big to hurt like HELL!  Hit the health and beauty aids aisle and find a tube of a good hemorrhoid cream and apply frequently.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I think I should be Searching For Anal Fissure  but can't get the nerve to have my doc check me out down there .    (silly, I know)

One trick to get stools loosened in a hurry is to buy some of those sugar alcohol-sweetened "sugar-free" candies.   The best I have found for the purpose are those Russell-Stover mini peanut butter cups ..  (remember:  "excessive consumption may have a laxative effect"   ) ..   Try downing a few of those at the same time and you'll be making a run for it in record time ...

In addition to the above recomendations I take 500IU of vitamin E daily to help soften.

Magnesium supplements help some folks feel better, help them  avoid some effects of dehydration and "dumping" (the other kind, where blood sugar goes down) and of course, contain magnesium which is one ingredient in many laxatives. Might want to try those in moderation.

Man have I been there! I agree with everyone else. I also take, with my doctors approval a stool softener from time to time. One thing that helps for me is to have a Kashi granola bar once a day. I also make sure I get all my fluids in each day. I will even stay up late just to get that last 8oz. of water in me before I go to bed.
