Do you share my (chronic) pain?
PreWLS I had some back pain from time to time but nothing major.
Since WLS my back pain has become chronic and some days almost debilitating. I have been wondering if it is a coincedence or if it is due to the rapid weight loss. At first the notion of losing weight being the cause of rapid weight loss seemed ludicrous and counter intuitive.
Lately as it is getting worse I started entertaining the notion more. Today as I was getting ready to post this I did a Google search and found a Dr that agrees. For women (and men with moobs) the sagging (ptosis) of the breasts as well as the the laxness of the skin can cause musculoskeletal problems including chronic lower back pain.
any one else have any such issues? If so what remedies have helped? Stretches? I hate doctors and chiropractors but I am at the point that even if my budget doesn't allow it I need to see a chriro or something. My back hurts sitting, standing, and laying - more in certain positions than others, but in trying to contourt my body to be comfortable I am putting kinks in other joints like knees, feet, and neck and shoulders.

Same problem here taking Vicodin and Tramadol for years. My pain doctor sent me to a physical therapist that specializes in figuring out what is wrong.
It took her quite a few visits to narrow it down and it turns out it is weakness in my core muscles. Not the large back muscles or the large abdominals, but all the small ones were too weak makeing me use the big ones too much and wearing them out. My pain was overworked back muscles.
I have been working on them at home with specialized exercises for 4 months. Last month I used 1/4 of the pain killers I was using just 3 months ago.
If the Doctor would have told me working out with 10#s or less of weights at home 30 minutes 3 nights a week would help my pain I would have told her she was nuts, but it did the job.

I have a bad disk in the lower back and have for years. That seems to actually have improved since the weight loss. But I am now having real problems with shoulder pain. It keeps me up at night. I plan to have the Doctor look at it on my next visit. Oh and now my butt hurts if I sit too long. I guess that extra padding being gone causes that.

ThinBoddy hit it right on the head! Same thing with me. I blew my L5-S1 disk out a few years ago - it is bone on bone. After the weight loss, it started giving me some problems, so I went to my Ortho Doc. He sent me to a physical therapist (who, as a plus, is a cutie for sure!). We've been concentrating onexercises that improve the core muscles. It has definitely helped thus far.
