First food issue
Well, I guess it had to happen some time..
My wife cooked some shrimp last night ( I love shrimp) and I ate 3 of them. Within 30 seconds of the last bite I could feel my mouth watering like crazy and headed for the restroom. It all came back up. I am hoping that it was the spice she used and not the shrimp. Will be a real bummer if i can never eat shrimp again. So far nothing else seems to have bothered me.
Anyone else have an issue with shrimp??

I had that happen the first time I tried shrimp. Now after a year out I can eat it again. So at some time in the future build up the courage and try one and see. If it was fried shrimp it may have been too fatty and this soon out you really should avoid anything fried. Now I still have a hard time with white meat chicken and the fake crab meat. Real crab meat is fine for me. So I guess I am saying don't give up hope yet.

Less than a month out is way, way too early for shrimp!
They are a three or four month out type food. They are super good dense protein and have become a staple in my diet. Like Nick referred too don't eat them fried. Boiled, steamed or grilled and not much seasoning. Give it a few months then try them again!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
how fast did you eat them? For me it is often a matter of mindful eating or lack of mindful eating, chewing a lot and eating slow, actually enjoying the texture, flavor, temperature of the food rather than craming it down my face.... I find myself eating faster and faster and once in a while I throw up like I did yesterday wtih the ham I ate for breakfast at record speed.
Yea, I agree with the others. It may be to early for shrimp. Triggers can be sauce, spices, not chewing and to fast. I eat shrimp weekly, but I chew chew chew and may get 5 down very slowly. This small meal takes 20 mins for me.
Shrimp, cod, trout, swordish, tuna are MUST for my diet. I'am not eating the red meats I once did burgers cut up, roast beef bites.

Terry and I have the same sugical date and this past week has been a bit of a pain for me also. Three weeks out and absolutley no energy. I too have had to "throw up" several times in the past week and each time I now realize it was becasue I was eating too fast. No problem the last two days eating the same foods, just a lot slower. I finally realized that for now I have to put the fork down and wait a bit between bites.
I agree with Don on this one - way to soon to be eating shrimp. I tried grilled shrimp at about 4 1/2 months out - got down 3 medium sized (I used to eat 15 or more of 'em). Barfed 'em right back up.
Tried the grilled shrimp again at about 6 months out and didn;t have any problem. Managed to get down 5, but had to chew extra and eat very slow.

Ditto...Somethings your pouch can't handle at 1 month...a few months later it can handle it. Things that may be hard to handle early on...certain beef, pork, lamb, deer, all things fried. Stick with the boring things like egg or tuna salad, peanutbutter, lean lunchen meat (turkey or chicken). Adventure out slowly...Taste everything...Ask the pouch..."Pouch, do you like this"?? He'll let you know soon enough. Brian
I had a similar experience even though I waited a bit longer than you did. The thing I have found with shrimp at 3 1/2 months out is that I can only eat a little bit and since I have to chew it so much, it leaves an aftertaste that I don' t enjoy. So, right now I a bit bummed because I have always loved shrimp and now I don't like it so much. Maybe that will change....
Thanks for the replies everyone!!
I think you all may be right on several things. I should have waited on the shrimp for a while. It was not fried, but it was sauted (SP?) in olive oil.
And I am sure I scarfed it down like dog at his last meal, I dont think it took me more than 5 or 6 minutes to get it all down and head to the throne room to get rid of it all.
I will try it again in 6 months or so as I really love shrimp. Fish is a must in my diet as well and I am afraid to try it. I have some trout in the freezer that I caught jsut before surgery and I sure would like to grill it.
Ya'll think I could handle fish at this point?
