KFC Double down sandwich

Ok, sooo I said when I tried it I would pass on the info....

in one word YUMMO!

This is an awesome sandwich and very filling.  I could only eat 1/2 at a time but it saves good and stays as good as the beginning.

I'm not big on spicy and the pepper jack cheese is SPICY...next time I'll see if they will just do swiss on it for me and it would be absolutely perfect for my tastes.  Though, it wasn't so spicey I couldn't eat it.

The "sauce" is kind of like a big mac "special sauce" that they use. Basically a thousand island type (not sure that there was the pickles in it).

It also is NOT an over breaded meat.  It is lightly breaded, like they use on the original chicken.  Two very nicely sized chicken breasts, not tough or stringy (like the chicken breasts can be sometimes so am making mention of this).  Very moist meat.

The cost wasn't horrible....I had a combo, got coleslaw instead of potatoes....and it was $5.99 here for the sandwich, coleslaw and ice tea.

If you have access to it GO FOR IT!  :)

hmm, I still haven't seen any mention of it around here!

I used to order the coleslaw thinking I was being "good" - until I looked it up and discovered the coleslaw had more carbs than the mashed potatoes! But I still love their coleslaw and will have it again when I'm not low-carbing.

well although most people dont have much probem with potatoes, they seem to give me gas at times, and coleslaw does much better for me.  I also don't have it very often so I don't worry too much about the carbs or adjust my day for them.

I didn't have much else for carbs all day so I did ok.

Unfortunately I can't find the nutritional value of the double down to figure carbs/ protein...oh well, eventually it should show up.

I still haven't heard a single thing about this here.  No mention of it on the website, no ads, etc.

Had to go looking for photos.

It does look good, but apparently it's only being test-marketed at the moment. Still, the gradeschool boy in me can't help but go "ew" when I see a sign that says it has the "colonel's sauce".

Chad, I too was leary of the 'colonel's sauce"  but like I said, it is actually more like the special sauce on the big mac so it was pretty good.  ;)  LOL

Then as I SAW them make it up (each one seperately lol as my friend also had one) you probably could ask for no special sauce and add your own mayo instead...

seems it is so far the only area....wish I could send one to everyone out there....lol  with all the low carbers and us DSers, I would think it will be a hit, but I didn't see many ordered while I was there, but then it was only about 11:30 too....big lunch rush around here is usually 12 - 1 p.m.

I hope it sticks around!!!!  I plan on letting KFC know how much I liked it...maybe if you email them you can push for it in your area....just a thought lol  I'm always emailing companies to let 'em know what I like and don't like.

That's a good price, but KFC's family meals are really getting pricey (the min wage increase?)

I stopped by to get a 12-piece meal (3 big sides + biscuits) one night last week and was shocked when the worker told me the total was over $28!

Oh well, I'll go for the chicken-only deals in the future there, I guess ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "
