Duane:

That seems awesome.  I can not believe 120 lbs in 4 months.  Heck, I can't imagine losing 10 pounds right now.  You probably know my wife. Mommylissa.  She went through the RNY surgery, but I am considering going through the VSG.  It just seems like a better choice, at least for me.

Thx,

A good book that really answered a lot of my questions was Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.  You can probably find it in any bookstore, or on Amazon.com...

 Scotty,
There are a couple of guys on here that I can think of that's had the VSG.  Their id's are Unidos and Jamie.  They would be a great source of info. for the VSG.  Pick whichever WLS that you and your surgeon thinks best for you.

Being apprehensive and nervous is natural. We all were.  WLS is a MAJOR surgery and here are risks involved. Do your research, ask questions, talk with people who have had WL surgery, and make your choice.  Your surgeon can offer his opinion and advice on which surgery would be best for you and your cir****tances and goals.

I'm 16 months out and here is  a list of some of the improvements I have experienced because of my surgery:

216 pounds GONE!
13 medications a day - GONE!
Sleep apnea - GONE!  No more bi-pap machine!
Severe edema - GONE!
Pe-diabetes - GONE!
Congestive heart failure - GONE!
Ankle, knee, and back pain - GONE!
Size 50-52 pants - GONE!   (Now size 33)
Size 3X-4X shirts - GONE!   (Now medium or large)

I am able to walk several miles, run if I want (which I don't).
I can exercise and weight train again.
I can push mow the lawn, weed-eat, and other yard work.
I can do projects around the house - build shelves, patio cover, climb ladders, paint, etc.
I can play ball and be active with my grandkids wihout having to sit down after 3 or 4 minutes.
I can ride my motorcycle on long trips without having to stop every 50 miles and rest.

In short, thanks to my WLS, I can live my life again!!
Having the surgery was the right answer for me. Good luck to ya!

Welcome, Like you I have recently come to the realization that I need to do something other than what I have been doing my whole life.  I have my appt. on the 11th and while I am scared and nervous as the days get closer I find myself more anxious.  It is nice having a few people starting this journey at the same time I am.
