Tracking Protein, Carbs & Fat?

I know we are supposed to eat 60 to 85 g of protein each day. But I also keep an eye on carbs, fat and calories.

Here's my average daily intake for the past two weeks.

Protein 69 g
Carbs   51 g
Fat         10 g
Calories  614

I always eat the required amount of protein, and was told to avoid carbs.  But don't you need some carbohydrates? And how much?  And what about fat?

Does anyone else keep track. I'm curious what others are doing.

Why bother with all the numbers, the chicks do that and over complicate things. Keep it simple, just keep track of protein, limit sugars to less that 6 grams and water intake and eat very little fat and very few carbs. The carbs you do eat should be complex and not simple carbs. Doing this I have lost 80% of my excess weight in a year and a half, over 230 lbs, which was half of my total weight. I have better things to do with my time than track all the numbers and stats.

I agree with Nick...   KISS   Keep it simple stupid !

The doctors and NUTs only tell you to track protein and water for a reason.  They want you to keep it simple.  You have plenty of time to worry about all the crap the chicks do when you are on maintenance.  If you want to be successful do what the NUT and DR say.

Thanks for the advice. But I do what works for me.  I need to know the science behind what I'm doing. I got to weigh more than 500 lbs in part by lying to myself about how much I'm eating. Even after WLS.. I can see myself eating 85 g of protein a day.. but loading up on carbs and fat.
I need to keep track of everything... at least for now.

I didn't start tracking until I was about 6wks out. I  never worried much about the fat intake as that is what is mostly mal-absorbed due to the bypass early on. I tried to keep my carbs under 50 and my calories under 1300 from about 6wks until about 6 months out. I was down 156 lbs at 6  months so it worked pretty good for me.

You will need to up your calories and eat complex carb foods.  614 calories is not enough for most men and it will create a stall.  It happened to me.  My doc upped mine to 1900 and 90g-110 g of protein at 6 mos.
Veggies, white meats, fruits.   May want to check with your NUT on this

Yes. I see my NUT soon. Definitely I need more energy.

I agree with Nick and the KISS principle. I just track my protein, make sure I get enough water limit carbs to very small amounts and avoid sugar and fat.
