I put on some new clothes today. They're just tee shirts and sweats... But they are size 3X... A far cry from the 9X I used to wear.  Plus, I didn't have to order them from a "Big Man's Store."  I can't remember the last time I could buy clothes from a regular store.  But thanks for the years that the big man's store was there to help me during my obesity illness.

Well dang, Big Fat Slob's menswear will be calling you soon, wondering where you are .. !

I know the feeling though, Herc ..  In fact, @ 2 years out I think I typed a few lyrics of a tribute song to them somewhere on here, inspired by the Elton tune, Burn Down The Mission ..     (I iwsh I could remember now how it went ..

Frank talk about the DS / "All I ever wanted to be was thin, like that Rolling Stones dude ... "

I had lunch with a friend today who had DS and has lost over 120 lbs.  He's still shocked that he doesn't have to go to the big men's store anymore.  I can get shirts and jackets from regular stores but I will be going to the big man's store for a long time due to lymphedema in my right thigh ( I'm currently a size 58" waist but have a 52" circumference on that thigh).  When we went to lunch my wife asked me to pull my chair in closer to the table;  I explained that I can't do that when I go to sit because the back of the leg pushes the chair that far away from the table.

Luckily I don't work so I wear sweat pants which have wider thighs.  And, the salemen at the local big and tall men's store are professional who treat their customers with respect.  I actually enjoy talking to them.  They can generally size someone without even pulling out a measuring tape.  Plus,  many athletes ( big & tall ) go there and it has an excellent reputatuin.

Congrats.  I had a similar great moment yesterday....i was able to buy a shirt from Old Navy.  I've never been able to shop there....and it felt great.  I fit an XL, can't believe that.  I too used to be up in the 4x-5x range.  I'm slowly becoming a clothes *****

Congrats, that sure is a good feeling isn't it.

I still remember my first pair of pants that weren't bought out of the big and fat catalog.
They were clearing them out at Wal-Mart.  I bought 3 pairs of jeans for $3.00 each.  Hell the big and tall store charges you that much to walk in the door.  I was only able to wear them for a couple weeks before they were too big, but that is an awesome feeling.

Congrats on dropping from a 9x to a 3x, that is increadible.

Keep up the great work.

Congratulations. From 9x to 3x is a hell of a drop. Keep on dropping. I've gone from 5xtall to 2xtall. In dress shirts from 22/38 to 18.5/37.  I'm working on getting in to some of that xlt business and maybe some 17.5's one of these days.

I miss the good folks at our locally owned Big and Tall man's shop. Theoretically I'll still need to shop there for shirts and jackets as the tall part of big and tall still fits me. But as of now and for the indeterminate future, I'm wearing out all the shirts and jackets that I bought in the 80's and then couldn't wear for 15 years.

But I'll guarantee you that being able to walk into a Dillards or Macy's or somewhere and buy the same pants that most of the rest of the male population is buying is still satisfying. Even after 2 or 3 years.
