Is there less of difference in sizes as you get smaller? clothing frustration

Gah I am so frustrated. It seems like I was in a 16 for a good little while, but I feel like I'm practically bypassing size 14. My 16s are too big so I bought two pairs of capris to get me through summer (it doesn't get cold here until November). One is a size 14 and other is a 12 (they fit the same). They are both already loose and I just got them 2 weeks ago!! Since then I've bought two more size 12s to "shrink into" but they fit great now. I feel like I just blew through a size 14 in a matter of a few weeks.

I like trendy clothes and LOVE to take advantage of sales, but it's hard when I never know what size I will be in 3 or 4 weeks!

I have some City Cash from New York and Company (spend $30 get $15 off) and want to use it, but I have no idea what sizes to get. The clothes will be for fall/winter but I'm scared to buy 12s because I worry they will be too big, but I'm also scared to buy 10s because I don't know if I'll ever get that small!

sigh...lol

Yes, I do believe there is less difference as the sizes get smaller. It took me 20-30lbs to change sizes at first, and now it takes more like 10-15 lbs. I remember a post where a lady said the really small sizes are more like 5-10 lbs difference.

Hi Heather,
Just curious, are you having your surgery at Cleveland Clinic?  I live in Florida and having my done at the Cleveland Clinic in Fort Lauderdale.  When are you having your surgery?  My entire process was smooth sailing until I had a MINOR problem with my EKG and now almost a stand still.  However, went to my cardiologist and had a stress test then went to my PCP the next day.  I got scolded because I went to my PCP too soon.  You can only go within 30 days of the surgery and since no date had been discussed......  Now that is positive thinking I guess.

This is a great site.  I just don't use it enough.

Sorry it's not the clothes it's you. It's all about the math and % of your total weight.

Here's what I'm talking about. And I'm making these numbers up.

Say you start at 250lbs.
You lose 25lbs
That's 10% of your body weight, you're then (just to make it easy, it's not quite this way but it makes the point) 10% smaller

You keep losing weight

You're now 150lbs
You only have to lose 15lbs to get the SAME 10% reduction.

Basically you have to lose less as time goes on to see the same size change as you're smaller each time. It's also the reason why people don't "see" the weight loss (while it's often dramatic) much at the beginning of this journey.

I'm with you on the frustration tho. Am down 8 pant sizes since April. I have no clothes. :)

That makes total sense.

Looks like we will be naked together this winter then! LOL

My original goal is to get to 165, but I'm probably revising it to 150 at least. I might hit a size 8! That just sounds surreal to me.

Get used to the surreal feeling.  I would not be surprised if you hit size 6.  After I hit size12, I would lose another size every 5-8 lbs.  I never thought it was even possible for me to get this small.  You still have a long time to go before your first year is up, you are going to keep shrinking.  I think I entirely skipped size 10 and 6 and went from 12, to 8, to 6.  Now I am a size 0 or PXS or CHILDREN's 14.  Talk about surreal.

When I first started, I thought 'only in my dreams will I fit into an 8'  I am wearing 4/6 right now and I am still 15lbs away from my dream goal of 120...I'll probably be in just 4s by then.
