MIS Group Toronto - When will they contact me???

Hello all!
I'm at the very beginning of my quest for RNY and sent in my 13 pg questionnaire a few weeks ago (my Dr. sent in her referral at the same time) and I haven't heard anything yet...
How long did (any of) you have to wait to get an initial meeting with the MIS Group??????

Unfortunately I can not help you with your question as I have opted to have my surgery in the US.  However, I want to welcome you to the OH boards.

I pretty sure I put in my referral around the first of November, and got my appointment for mid January. My referral was sent directly to Dr. Starr, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I just kept bugging my family doctor's receptionist till I got a reply.
My surgery is schedualled for October 23. Almost a year to from my first inquiries.
Going to the states is definately quicker, but some of us are just more comfortable at home.

I hear you. I wish I had some answers, but I have been waiting about 3 months now and not sure where anything stand with them!

I faxed in my questionaire and consult in November of last year and my appointment was with Dr. Klein in June of this year.  They called the Dr's office with an appointment only a few days after I faxed it in so maybe you might want to call and make sure they got it ok.

myself, i would just call them and ask them when to expect their call.  they're great there.

I personnally, was disappointed with them, that's why I am having everything done in the US.
As for their competence, I'm sure they are very professionnal and that they are amazing doctors.  Only I have had an odd experience and so it made me change my mind about them.  Nothing to do with medecine, just office work....I just prefer having it done in the US where you know you can expect a call.  In Toronto you gotta call in a lot and sometimes ***** and beg.....that was just not for me.

But that doesn't take away anything from the good care and the doctors' work of HRRH...just my own personnal experience that's all.

I am still waiting for a call for an initial consult and I am approx 2 months post op with Dr.Graber in New York.....I sent my paperwork in over 8 months ago.Obviously I don't need the consult now.

That's exactly what happened for me too.  I sent the questionnaire (that I printed out from the internet from their website) in last March.  No news.  They sent me another questionnaire by mail on June 20th (that was on a Friday) along with an attached letter asking me to send it back by Thursday June 25th (or my referral wouldn't be taken in consideration).....well I checked the calender, and June 25th was a Wednesday.  So I was confused on which day they wanted it back exactly.  So I called the number provided and got only a machine.  I called 3-4 times and finally left a message, explaning the situation and that since the delay was so short, I wanted them to call back that day so I could send it immediately....they never called.  So I filled it out and sent it that friday hoping it would get to them by wednesday.
Well I guess they didn't get it on time, because I never heard from them again....

Hi "Vixen", which doctor are you seeing? That could make a difference. Dr. Klein is VERY BUSY, so it would be better to go with either Dr. Huynh or Dr. Starr. When my doctor sent in a referral to Dr. Starr, I had an appointment time given to me in days. The consult was only two months away! I am having my surgery in January. So, from referral to surgery time, was about 10 and a half months.

I would definitely call whatever surgeon your doctor sent the referral to. If you can't get any answers from the MIS group, ask your GP to send the referral to a specific doctor, that is the best thing to do. As I said, ask them to send it to either Dr. Huynh or Dr. Starr.
