Hey Tina!  There ya go!!! This is the right place to put your questions!!!  I'm sure somebody will pipe in and let you know about what to bring with you to your appointment.  I wish I could have helped you more in this department, but not sure as I never had to see an Endo.  I just tried to call my friend who went through Dr. Trekki, but she wasn't available.  I will keep trying her to find out if she can offer any suggestions as to what to bring, and what to expect.  Good luck Tina...we are all here for you!!!

Hi Tina, welcome to your new home (trust me...)

I did get your PM, didn't have time to answer right then, and then I forgot!  Sorry!

Anyway, when I went to my endo, I just took the stuff I would have taken to any initial appointment about getting ooc wls.  I took my personal letter to OHIP (which I didn't end up using, but I thought he may want to see the info there), I took a record of my diet attempts over the previous 10 years, and the results of that (he felt that would be of great help to him in getting my approval), and I took a completely filled in copy of the OOC form, and a blank one with just my personal info, and Dr Lu's info (because I wasn't willing to change anything as far as chioce of surgery, or surgeon), so my endo could fill that out himself if he chose, and he'd still have the filled in example to refer to if he wanted.    He was extremely supportive, and impressed that I knew my stuff.  I saw Dr Wilson, but I've heard that Dr Trekkie is also supportive of this.  Sounds like you're a little ahead of the game, having had some tests done already.  Good for you!

Have questions?  Ask away!  We're here to help!

Hello Tina

I am the friend that Isla was trying to contact to respond to you

I wasnt getting anywhere with my GP so I requested a referral to Dr.Treki

I brought nothing with me to the initial meeting with Dr.Treki

He sent me for many tests ; sleep study, glucose tolerance,ECG,varous blood work

The next meeting was to discuss the results of all tests .

I was diabetic with high BP and high cholesteral, severe back pain & depression, BMI 44

I asked for his referral for WLS...and he agreed it would benefit me

He does support WLS and completed my paperwork to OHIP ( cost $100)

You are in good hands Tina

Hope this helps !

Valerie

Dr. Trekkie is very WLS friendly and has approved many of our other members for surgery.

Just go in knowing your stuff, why you want the surgery, your diet history, comorbidity list and your OHIp form.

an endo pulls alot of weight and if he signs it, your chances are great.

THANK YOU EVERYONE SO MUCH FOR ALL THE INFO, IT HELPS ALOT.
LOL@ STARTREK

Fortunately I have a good Dr that will fill out my forms, he seems pretty confident too, told me he put about 29 people through, but he wants to be thorough with the application and I already went for blood work and ecg and I have sleep study scheduled for February 4th.
The ecg and stress test and heart monitor was done before Christmas because I was having chest pains. I think it was more muscular from work. Still didn't get report on that yet but I'm sure I will soon.
I recently had an mri done on my right knee because I was trying to put a claim through w.s.i.b. but turns out I have loss of cartilage or osteoarthritis. I knew it wasn't really work related but more because of my weight and I'm sure I have arthritis on both legs.
Anyways before I ramble on. I just worry that my ohip will get denied. My friend just received a letter from them either denied her or asked for more info. I can't remember  now.
So he refered me to Dr Treki to help out with the app.
Thanks again and if I have more questions I will email again if you don't mind.
Thanks
Tina
