Want An Honest Opinion.... And Please Don't Laugh At Me

My whole life I wanted to be "Someone".  I dreamed of being a business woman, hell if i knew what a business woman did but I knew she dressed nice and carried a brief case.  {I Own 4 briefcases and never been a business woman haha}.  I went into law after the fiasco of my ex but got real sick and had to leave.  Anyhow while I was there in the English classes part they took me aside and asked me about changing my major as I can write like they have never seen.  That made me feel so good but I wanted to protect abused kids.  Well that fell through.  Anyways my family Dr over the years has told me I  should write books and I am so talented in it that he would sponsor me {I don't know what sponsor me means} but it's good.  Anyways fast forward years and here I am with you people.  I love telling yous stories yous enjoy and make me laugh and feel good about me.  {Don't get me wrong everything I say really happen unfortunately haha} Now here's where I need advice.
I have had my surgery and I now feel kinda lost.  I want to be someone still.  I don't have to be a millionaire or a famous person but "someone" someone who succeeded at something they dreamed of.  I have always felt in my heart I should write books however I have never tried.  I have the ideas in my head and I have no problems with words etc but it's putting it together to make a story.  So I want to know do you think it would be dumb of me to take maybe an online course in writing a novel?  {I looked up one on ics it is an correspondence course way out of my league financially {thousand bucks} but they will let me make small payments {30} a month.  I can see on my husbands face when I said it, we have no money and you won't stick to it, but I will I promise.  What do yous think?  I know yous are constantly telling me I should be a writer but it's one t hing to say it when the convo is fun but when someone needs your "HONEST" opinion before she spends the next few years fun funds on a course do you think this is smart.  I won't get upset at any answers so don't worry.  I want constructive criticism.  I can't go to a college because I was given loan forgiveness for my student loan because I was dying at the time and I no longer qualify for a student loan.  I was hoping to look at Chapters and see if they had some sort of a book of lessons on how to write a novel but I dont' want to end up spending money on junk and have to take the course anyways.
Anyways any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Elizabeth,
you do have a gift and an amazing way of expressing yourself!! Yes, you should write...especially if it something that YOU ENJOY!!! Think long term!

Have you looked into local colleges or university course, some are on-line and you may qualify for OSAP loans or grants depending on your income or lack of!!!

Seeing how this wls has helped you to bloom is amazing!!! You go gurl!!!

Thank you very much.  I do not qualify for OSAP any longer because of receiving loan forgiveness from when I got bad sick and  they thought I wasn't going to live long.

Honestly, most online courses on writing are nothing but a scam. If you want to write, write. Many colleges offer workshops on creative writing that may spark interest but there is no "course" that is going to necessarily teach you how to write.  And there's no course that means you'll become a writer. I have an Honours B.A. in English and it doesn't mean that I'm necessarily going to get published.

There is no course that you can take that will make you a writer. If anything they are only there to give you ideas and spark your creativity. If you want to write, then write. There are many online sites that give you information on how to submit things to publishers. Much of it is a crap shoot. You can also self publish too.
