I'm a vsg patient, but they gave them to me right in the hospital, so they were definitely okay.

About the pain etc, how far out are you? My pain on the left was pretty bad for almost 2 weeks.

You hear of so many people having super easy recoveries when you feel worse then you expected it is normal to worry...I know I did!

I was still taking pain meds pretty regularly for a week, so I am sure you are ok.

I was also tired all the time, at three to four weeks out I was still napping once a day.

I was also still having left sided pain at 4 weeks out.  Early out I got worried about it so I called Barix was told to go to ER, they did bloodwork and xrays and said it was gas pain.

In the end I think you are ok, but if it would make you feel better call the emerg number for Barix.

I'm not sure about gas-ex chewables but there are sublinguals that melt in your mouth that you know you could be sure of.

It was a good few weeks for me before I wasn't taking my increased pain meds anymore. I had huge black and purple bruises on me though. I'm assuming because they had a complication during my surgery.

I suggest warm water on your belly where the pain is. I found a hot shower the day after surgery did a lot for the gas pain. The gas pain is the worst! That and once I laid on my side it seemed to move down into my lower abdomen and it didn't hurt as much there.. I just farted it out over the next few days.

Hope that helps :)

Hi Annie,

The black & purple bruises were most likely from heparin shots.

These bruises came after I left the hospital. The heparin shots were always on my left side.. that might account for the small one.. the shots never hurt so i dunno. The giant one surrounded one of my incisions on my right side. It was one of my bigger incisions. The black and purple bruising on that side took up nearly my entire side radiating from the incision.

gasX chewables is the only thing I lived on for about 3 months helped with the gas pains.  That and extra strenth tylenol that I cut in a pill splitter to make it easier to swallow.
