Jeez I've been at doc appts all day and didn't expect this when I got home.  I've been thinking about her and Jodi.  At least they'll figure it out for the next time.  I hope she realizes that something like this could have killed her and she's lucky they were actually paying attention.

My heart leapt into my throat too.. expecting the worst. I'm so glad it was that she had an allergic reaction and didn't have surgery! Instead of surgery went terribly wrong and...

I hope that she gets this figured out soon and has the patience to stand waiting yet again.. but for the doctor to cancel the surgery obviously wasn't a light decision and she obviously put the patient's health first, above all else. For that I'm glad that Candace is in such caring hands.

Sorry to hear about her troubles.
However they have to error on side of caution.

As disappointed as she may be at least she is alive and will have another chance at surgery.
They outcome could of been tragic if they had tried to proceed.

I had the same surgeon and she is wonderful and only wants her patients to have the best outcome.

I hope Candace sees the big picture when she calms down :)

When I read the subject line, I too was scared to read on. So glad she is ok. Glad the doctor was on her toes and caught whatever was going wrong. So sorry Candance that your surgery was postponed but very happy that you are okay. Big hugs.

Ouch that really sucks it will have to be rescheduled but so much better to be safe! Thanks for letting us know.

I have just been texting with Candace and she is doing much better. Her husband and MIL went home around 4 p.m. so they got her to stay in the hospital even when she was so angry she thought she wanted to leave.
They think her anger could have been a reaction to the histamines/medicines she was given. She seems to have calmed down a lot.
She said when she woke up her tongue was swollen, which she hadn't told me before, so I think she is feeling better and going over things as they have happened now.

I think the surgeon was really concerned for Candace and felt worried for her reaction and I know she did want to do the best for her. Dr. Pierra-Hong is an angel in her own right I think.

Candace appreciates all the love you are sending her way.

Could WLS be done with a local block?  I know some surgeries (knees) can be done that way...I wonder if a full epidural would be an option?  I know it's obviously not the preferred method, and I have NO medical knowledge or background, just askin...
