How many did Dr. Bernstein?
i knew a nurse that worked in this office...as i spoke to her about it she herself suggested it was not the best of diets...the injections are glucophage which is a diabetic drug to help control people with diabetes and the other drug was calcium i think....if this is a diet that your husband is looking to do...he should consult your family physician and see if he would place he on this drug and see if it would help him...and the cost is minimal then what you are paying now....best of luck with whatever decision he goes with as its hard to figure out what is best for yourself...

Dr. B for over 3 months. I lost over 20 pounds in first two weeks then almost nothing after that. I never cheated and nurses? constulants? just kept telling me to increase my water consumption. At one point I was drinking like 30 glases/day. Finally the doctor there put me on water pills. Yep that caused weight loss at least the first week then again nothing. In the end I was so frustrated with lack of progress and they refused to honor their "guarenteed" weight loss because when average over the number of weeks I was there, my weight loss fell within their guarenteed amount. CRAP!
I hope your hubby does well without causing your family to go broke. If he losses the weight, he will then have to work on changes his eating habits for life. All of us ate improperly at some point in order to gain in the first place and if those old poor choices creep back into his life, he will regain.

It's a starvation diet, plain and simple, so of course you'll regain the weight! My friend's next-door neighbour was on it, lost, then regained, and they refused to see him again because of that! (Oakville). Later, they apologized, but it was a case of too little, too late. Did not treat him well at all!
My music teacher's friend went on it and she ended up with a nasty skin problem.
Good luck to your hubby. (oh, by the way, the shots don't actually aid in your weight loss at all!).

Oh lordie, do not get me started on that wackjob diet. How can ANYONE live on a breakfast of diet jello and 2 pieces of melba toast?????!!!!
I've known 5 people who've done this personally ... everyone of them re-gained and them some. 2 famous folks... one a local news person... she now is bigger than she ever was.
This guy IMO should be sued into oblivion and not allowed to use the name "dr".
Run fast, fast, fast from this thing, it messes up your metabolism, you lose your hair... it's starvation pure and simple. And frankly ... any doc who yelled someone like that ... should have a FAT FIST shoved promptly down his throat.
Here's what CBC had to say about this nut job and his magic "diet".
http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/pre-2007/files/health/bernstein_diet/index.html
A part in particular that a lot of people don't know... and is in this CBC article is:
Neither Health Canada nor the Ontario Ministry of Health regulates diet clinics. When we contacted the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons, we were told it would not comment on a specific doctor.
It's REALLY too bad that a reporter couldn't catch this wackjob yelling at someone ON camera. I bet it would be the final needed nail in the coffin of his death-diet empire.

Incidently... I believe you have 10 days to demand a refund from this "diet" place... so if your H changes his mind... do like a buddy of mine did... threaten them... they'll back off and give you your money back, minus an admin fee.
Hey... I found the other "celeb" photo from 2008 (five years after Bernstein)...

Ok please no yelling!! I was a nurse at one of the clinics. Worked there for a couple of years. The shots are just B6/B12 and another shot of all the B's we called B-comp. I know this because we use to have to draw the needles ourselves. I lost 36 lbs in 6 weeks on it. I have herd many horror stories from people on it and have saw many success stories. The maintenance diet once you have lost your weight is strict and most of those who followed it seemed to keep it off. I saw alot of people have gall stones but at the same time I have seen this on other diets. I met Dr.B many times and he is one of the meanest people I have ever met. YELLING all the time. My blood pressure went up to 200/120 working there and I eventually was put on LTD. (other reasons too) Besides wls this diet is one of the quickest ways to loose weight. I had seen many people with the weight in the excess of 400lbs drop 40lbs a month. When you look at the cost of the diet compared to some others like W.watchers and the amt of time it takes to lose the weight equals out in the end. I have seen hundreds of patients over the 2 years I worked there. There were many happy people and at the same time there were many unhappy people. It is medically supervised and alot of pts are made to have tests before they start it. Your urine is tested at every visit and therefore we were able to tell if people were cheating. Even some creams that you put on your skin could take you out of ketosis and show up on the urine test. Oh yeah I was one of the nice nurses! Even had patients call head office to say nice things about me. There I tooted my own horn :)
