In the first 2.5 weeks I lost 17 lbs. At my 6 weeks appt I had lost 25 lbs which sort of disappointed me, but the doctor said the average weight loss was 20 - 30 lbs at 6 weeks and I was right in the middle.
Before I had surgery I had talked to several other people who had had WLS and I was told over and over again how the weight would just "fall off" after surgery and that I would be amazed and wouldnt' be able to keep up with it as far as new clothing sizes went, etc. But aparently my idea of "falling off" and other people's ideas were different. So it was sort of a shock that I wasn't going to be losing 10 lbs a week! LOL That sounds stupid now...but I really thought when I started it would come off faster.
Now that I am a year out, I see that I have lost weight quickly. I wouldn't tell anyone else that the weight will fall off, but over 100 lbs in a year is a pretty great feat. I haven't lost as much as some people, but I think I've lost more than some others and I know that it is very individualized. I am thrilled with what has happened so far and can't wait until I reach my goal weight. My weight loss has slowed down now to between 3 and 5 lbs per month, but I know that I can easily ramp that up with some better food choices and more exercise. For the first time ever I feel like I have some control over my weight and where it goes!
Anyway...way more than what you asked for! Sorry.
