Why can't we drink water with meals?

because our stomaches are soooo much smaller there is not room to hold both. you need the room for your food so you get everything you need if you fill it half of watr then your NOT getting all the nuitrian. plus you get tummy aches

Thank you the nutritionist and the nurses at the hospital kept telling me no water with food but they had never said why.

also can cause "dumping syndrome" when your food empties into your small intestines too quickly.
(you can google "dumping syndrome" probably will explain it better than I can)

Ana....the video is good...I'm coming up on my 3 year post-op anniversary in May...if you follow the "rules"....my Dr's office gave me were 30/60...I still follow them...that means stop drinking 30 minutes before you eat...and no drinking with your meals, and no drinking for 60 minutes following your meal...good luck on your journey...Patti K.

yeah, i never got the "30 minutes before you eat" rule. i figure that the water must just drain right through.
