I am 5'7ish and the last time I saw anything under 200lbs was in grade 10. My pre-pregnancy weight was probably as big or bigger than I am now!! I have no idea what size my "frame" is either!

I have never ever been thin or even anything considered "normal" in my whole life so for me, anything under 180 would be a miracle. I am shooting for 160 as an ultimate goal even though I think my BMI says something around the 145 range....but then I'd have no boobs either!!! And we can't have THAT!!! ;)

I think it has to do more with muscle mass.  I'm 5'9" and in high school I was 145 with 17% body fat but had way more muscle mass than my BF who was 140 pds and 24% body fat.  She was always thinner looking than me(we did body fat measurements in gym class every year if your wondering).  Now fast forward 20 years and I think I may have lost a lot of the muscle and I can see as I lose the weight (75 lbs now), that my legs and arms look smaller.  My husband (who I've been with since 16 yrs old) has noticed that i have less muscle mass in my legs and arms.  I'm not weight training now, only walking now.  I never really liked my body type then(go figure),so I think I'll lay off the weights until I've lost almost all of my weight.

I was always told that I was big boned my whole life.  I don't think I am.  I'm not "skinny" yet but my wrists are soooo much smaller than they were, my neck, my shoulders...even my feet have shrunk a size.  My body type is sort of straight, whereas I don't have a really defined waist or a roundish bum so I think I end up looking thicker than I am.  But now that I'm closer to my goal weight, I think I can actually say that I have a small to medium frame. I'm definitely not petite but I am not big boned either.

I don't get the "big boned" thing at all.....sure the sizes of our frame matter when it comes to determining what our goal weight should be in order to figure out a healthy range but bones are bones....they may add height or width to our bodies but it is really the amount of fat that is surrounding them that causes people to assess that we are "big boned."  Just one girl's opinion!

Karla I agree with you.  But there must be some differences somewhere.  My son's girl friend is about 5'1" and weighs about 115 lbs.  She wears an XS and is very petite, but muscular.  That is about 30lbs less than I weigh now.  I think if I dropped 30 lbs I would look like a skeleton.  I'm only 5'2" so there isn't a large difference in height.  She is obviously just a much more petite person and her skeletal frame must be smaller...I don' t know.  That's just what I think.

I agree Lor that there is some difference!  Like I said I think our frame (skeletal shape and size) and height do dictate what a healthy weight should be for us however, I don't think when It comes right down to the actual size of our bones it will make much difference in what our overall weight will be....

A small 5 foot 1 person like myself should not have a normalized weight of say 110 compared to 140 of someone who claims that they have "big bones".  I just don't believe from all of the reading that I have done that there can be a 40 lbs of excess weight that is acceptable on that frame.  Sure there may be some shape and weight difference...however I don't think the scope is 10's of lbs difference per individual.  I also believe tho that some people pull off 140 completely differently than another person pulls of a 140 based on their overall shape and physical characteristics ( like where we carry our weight!).....for sure....but I don't necessarily think that that is a bone sized issue!
