Can I claim Mexico surgery on my income tax?

For now I am just concerned about the WLS and want to make sure that is covered.  The wait list is way too long here.

I have weight-loss surgery in France and claimed the surgery, aifare, accommodations and meals for myself and my husband.  You need to submit a letter from your physician stating you needed someone else with you throught the process and then you are able to claim their expenses as well.

Be sure to keep all your receipts - I was audited - I sent them off a spreadsheet with all the receipts and within 2 weeks they responded that every thing was fine - case closed.

just make sure you get receipts for everything, gas, hotel, surgery,

there may be a greater chance that you will be audited, if you have your surgery outside of Canada..I mean you may become the "chosen"one~!!

That's fine as long as I keep my receipts and maybe a note from the dr.

If you check out the link I posted you will see that Ontario pays a certain rate per KM of travel and for meals for you and someone with you. WLS will not be covered.

ok confused here, it says what I pay to the practioner and the public or private hospital?  I am not taking anyone with me, I will be gone for up to a week however long it takes.  I am still confused if I can come up with the cash as well so it might be a few months or even a year.  I just want to get it done and over with so I can start feeling healthier and living a normal life.
