Working OUT please advise............
I woud just like to say thank you to everyone who gave there ideas. I wrote them all down and it will help. I am going to do my best with exercise. I have Muscular Dystrophy which my legs get tired and turn to jelly most of the time hahha. I still push myself as much as I can. When I feel the tiredness coming on, I stop. If I don't stop I will fall down and have a hard time getting back up. The struggles of life. I was diagnosed about 6 years ago. It has not stopped me from going on with life. The surgery part I am towards the RNY. Why I chose this is that I been struggling with diets. I start off good and then my scheduling gets crazy and I am not motivated and the weight comes back double. With this surgery I have no choice but to eat healty. I need this constant kick lol. Looking forward to my new life. I am sure the exercising will get better since I won't be as heavy as I am now. Have a great day everyone.
Hi again Betty Jo,
With your MD, do you require an NSAIDS (non steriodal anti inflammatory drugs), such as advil, motrin etc. They can't be taken with an RNY, so you will need to be cautious in that area. They can be taken with a VSG, however. Yes, I am a little bias toward the VSG :) You will find that a lot of people are fighting to get the VSG and since you have the option, you might really want to seriously look into.
I'm sure you'll do great in any event!

I agree with what Rosiesmile said. For now start with these little changes and eventually you may find ways to fit more in. Don't feel like you need to run a marathon to start.
As for the surgery choice, I chose RNY because it was the path of least resistance. I thought I would have preferred the sleeve but I didn't have a strong enough argument to fight the system - it was a personal preference, but once I settled on the RNY I never looked back. For the most part it has been the right choice for me - with the exception of not being able to take Advil on the rare occasion that I need it and sometimes I wish I had a pyloric valve.
Overall the choice was right and I wouldn't change a thing given the chance. There are reasons for choosing either surgery and as long as you are happy with your choice then it's the right choice.
Good luck with your decision,
Sue

Hi Betty Jo
My advice - or slant on things is going to be slightly different then others...
First - you have received great advice re how to incorporate exercise into your regular day....thats important
I exercised the first 6 weeks post surgery - every day - and then just slipped away from it.
I followed my diet strictly - no white carbs...crackers,,,etc for the first 9 months....but I did not strenuously exercise....but did MOVE more
I lost the weight.....however - now 2.5 years out I work with a trainor 3 times per week for an hour ( I get up at 5:15 and work out early - the only way I can fit it in)....now I am fit as well as thin..
I guess my point is - absolutely try to work the exercise in....it WILL help you lose and tone....and its important for the future - but the most important in my mind INITIALLY is to follow the guidelines given....keep to the rules.....watch those empty carb type calories
Good luck
