can you not pay it up front and submit it for reimbursement?

Ideally yes - but sometimes you just don't have the cash to do so, y'know?

Karen summed it up for me.  And ODSP are not always the speediest at refunding said money.

If I had a job it would not be such a problem, however it's been several months now and no one wants to hire me.  I'm having a hard enough time now just getting to the interview stage.  Lack of work experience on my resume really hurts me.

Either way I'll get approval, but ODSP likes to have time to facilitate things.  I just hope the upper GI is not overly delayed as it is schedules for 11:30am and I was told no food or drink after midnight.  I'm concerned about the acid reflux I'll likely have to endure.  I'm likely going to shell out a considerable amount for something to eat after all my appointments (last one is at 2:30pm) for something to eat from one of the places in the lobby.  They had some good looking egg salad wraps at the Second Cup.

Not to be funny but you don't need to shell out any money for food after the appt if you bring your lunch with you. Those little ice packs cost like $1 - and i'm sure you can round up a bag to put your lunch and a drink in. A good old fashioned pb&J carries well as do some pepperettes and a baby bell or two

It might not be gourmet or what you really want but i have no idea why you would need to spend much at all - unless you want an excuse to have that wrap

If you are feeling really lazy bring a shaker cup, some protein powder and buy a milk - a meal equivalent for $2 .

I'm a guy, so I'm not all for thinking these things out.  Plus I'm so forgetful that I would either forget it at home or in the taxi, heh.

I suppose if I really wanted an egg salad wrap I could make my own.  They have eggs on sale this week (not sure how long eggs last).

Honestly not looking forward to be out the entire day.  And I just know I am going to hit rush hour traffic on the way home, which will not be fun.

The expiry date is on the side of the carton. Usually a few weeks if not a month into the future and they are normally still good after that.

You can hard boil eggs a few days before you go then make the salad the night before.

Given eggs are an extremely good and inexpensive source of protien it might be beneficial to add them to your diet more regularily.

If $50 is going to destroy your budget a $10 meal out can't be really good for it either.... so it might be to your advantage to do what you need to do to not forget, regardless of your gender.

remember if you are making anything mayo based please make sure you have an ice pack in there mayo spoils easy in this heat.

can you take your acid reflux meds in the morning to help keep it @ bay?

I would mention to the clinic that you have the acid reflux and are without meds and the discomfort you are in.

I dont know where you are located so please forgive me... but you mentioned taxi.. if you are within the GTA would it not be less of a stress on ye ole wallet if you took public transit rather then a cab?... thise suckers are expensive.

I was told nothing after midnight, so I assume that means no meds either.  I'll play it by ear and see how I am going while sitting around waiting.

I live in Oshawa, public transportation (GO and whatever else) would be too much of a hassle.  ODSP will cover the Wheelchair Accessible Transit van that I have had in the past.  They charge $100 each way (rates may have done up since I last used them).  It's just a hassle sometimes with getting them to approve it due to them wanting certain confirmation.

The lady from the MOH faxed the letter I provided her with, and it includes the MOH department information and the Ontario letterhead, so that should definitely be more than enough for ODSP.  I'll know Monday or Tuesday of next week and will update once I receive word.

Either way it won't be anything out of pocket for me if this all goes to plan.

When I had my upper GI and abd. U/S .. I called the clinic and asked about meds. I am on medication for chronic migraines. I was told to take meds as prescribed but with as little water as I can. .. its worth a try..

I'm on ODSP, i pay upfront and send in all my receipts my worker has noprobs with that, also have you tried applying for a travel grant as i assuming ur at a distance from st Joe's  ? also i was told to just get my GP to fill in a form sent it in to ODSP, you will be surprised what is allowed, special diet for GBPS, again my GP and I talked about what was needed for me also some meds will be covered to help out on this life's process. you also have an expense once a year as a single its just over 700 and a couple or with kids its 1200 - 1500 some times they use it for moving but if you make a list IE beds house hold appliances A/C with a med note from GP a Lot of worker's wont tell their clients about what ur eligible.

Gd luck with this, i wish you all the best on ur journey
