I need to vent a little....

I had to work today, so I figured that since my bf is off, he could go to the store. I thought he'd go to the local store that we always grocery shop at, but no, not today- he went to walmart

I needed some greek yoguart and some deli ham and a few other things. He got "astro" greek yoguart.. I was really disappointed and of course couldn't hold my tongue about it. There is a HUGE difference between the 2
Liberte- 110 cal, 0 fat, 6g carbs, 20g protein for 3/4c
Astro- 200 cal 13g fat, 8g carbs and only 10g protein for 1/2c

I am soooooooo picky with my foods as it is and he buys something different... grrrr!

I reeaaalllly whined about it... He told me that I need to stop losing weight and need to eat more calories He is tired of me continuing to lose weight... I don't know what to think about all this.

I eat alll the time and I have even been trying to eat more carb-y foods; I think I'm doing really awesome.

I'm not sure what to do about this.. I feel kindda choked up about it, honestly. Maybe I'm just being petty, picky, or whatever.. I dont know.....

I'm not sure why he made those comments, but I would stick to fulfilling your surgeon's and your own personal goal for your weight.  I read so often on here about weight regain at different points, so I would think getting to goal or slightly below may be a good thing since you may bounce back a bit.

Hi Sandy :)

I will say this.. My goal was 140-143lbs, I now weigh 125lbs.
I have definitely fulfilled the expectations of my team and myself, which I am REALLY happy about.

I am sure that he wasn't trying to be mean about it. I think he's genuinely concerned as I have wayyy surpassed (19lbs) what my goal was.

How tall are you?  What's your BMI?

My surgeon didn't give me a "goal weight" per se...but he did tell me I should start to work hard at stopping (and even regaining) if I dipped into the teens (19BMI or less).  That otherwise - to just go with it - as that was normal.

You might need to stop talking about your weight with him so that he stops seeing you as being obsessed with the number.  I found I spent a lot of time and energy thinking about my food - and that kinda made my hubby nuts.  And was probably unhealthy for me as well.

If the BMI you are at is in fact healthy -but he hears you going on about being 19lbs under goal etc. etc, he might read that as a bad thing - not the good thing you see it as being.

Hi Erica :)

I weigh 125, I'm 5ft 2in and my bmi is 22.8; the bmi calculator says "in normal range"

I hadn't talked to him about my weight in a little while, but he overheard me talking to some that had asked me some questions.

He sees what I eat .. I sometimes still weigh foods, not as much because I have a really goo eye now. I stopped tracking my foods. But I count in my head...  I try to prepare healthier meals as well. Or if we go out, I order the healthier choices, usually chicken or a salad, or at one particular restaurant, I will order fish. In certain restaurants, I have my preferences (wild wing- I get a salad or a "wild wrap"; casino rama- I get the fish and a salad (in the sports bar)) and so on. He says I am "predictable". I just like what I  like, allllways have been that way for as far back as I can remember.

I guess I do spend alot of time thinking about my foods and it probably drives him nuts. I plan, plan, plan.... I will plan my foods for 2or3 days, especially if I am working a stretch of days. I like to be prepared. There are days he doesnt even know, or at least let on, that I am planning my foods; I can do it really fast now.

That BMI is just a completely healthy weight.  You might need to explain that to him.  They say 22BMI is the "perfect" weight - right in the middle of normal.  I know I had to have that conversation with my husband - he saw me as so skinny...but when I showed him that - he got some perspective.  It's weird when they know us as big before...hard for them to wrap their heads around it too.

The other things you are doing just sound like good planning for maintenance.  Strategies for success.  And good for him as well.  Sounds like a good chat about what it means to be healthy together means.

As for the yogurt thing...maybe you just need to learn to be very specific about what you want?  I would NEVER trust my husband to get those kinds of groceries without me texting him a picture of the package! lol  Guys just don't read labels!

Hi Leanne - it sounds to me as though he is genuinely concerned about you. Since you've already surpassed your goal weight, maybe he's afraid that you'll end up going too far and becoming anorexic - who knows how people think? Have you had a really serious heart-to-heart talk with him about where you want to be as far as your final weight? Maybe buying the more fattening brand of yogurt is his way of trying to put the brakes on your continuing weight loss because he's worried about your health.  I don't think that you're being petty at all and it is your decision to make when it comes to your goal weight. Anyway, just my thoughts.
