I need to vent a little....

 I've read all of the comments and it could be any of those reasons. Another thought I had was that perhaps you are getting too good looking, or hot and  he may be worried? The social worker I worked with talked about the different reactions of our men and that was one of them. You HAVE to put yourself first and do what you believe is right for you, (along with your surgeon's thourghts of course).
It is always good to vent , and this is a wonderful way to do it.

My 2 cents.

Your boyfriend and Joe could be twins.  When I read his response to you, it's very similar to things I've heard from Joe.  Why?  A few reasons.  1 - He hates to be wrong and so if he bought that yogurt, it's damn-well good enough. LOL  2 - Knee-jerk reaction.  After all my focus on weight and healthy eating, I"m sure it bugs the crap outta him sometimes.  3) He was doing YOU a favour by doing the shopping, therefore any displeasure is an immediate shot to the ego. Talking about your weight = shot to YOUR ego.

Just my thoughts, living with a hilariously, over-testosteroned man. LOL
