SICK AS A DOG nightime eating...help
Okay, so almost six months and 85 pounds lost but boy oh boy do those feelings of obsessive eating ever come back fast when stressed. Last night was a terrible night personally so an hour after I had been asleep I woke up to EAT...what a dummy...entire bag of popcorn, melba toast and cheese, small bowl of fruit, 3 light cookies and then I FOUND SMORES POPTARTS>>> of course I ate them (2)all warm and sugary and sweet. Then I was praying I would die, gagging and nausea but no vomitting but it hurt so bad. I don't know what happened to me-- I had gone to a therapy session yesterday and the walls came tumbling down last night. Why, do we do this to ourselves? How do you control night time eating. What do you do now when you are stressed? I am so disappointed with myself- how do you handle the Need for Food even when you are not hungry. Thank YOU!!!
I make a rule not to eat anything later than 8pm, or if I have a late workout, then a light snack before 9pm like fruit or yogurt.
I did the same thing you did a few weeks ago where I overate too many of those butter popcorn crispy minis - you may have seen my post. I know I NEVER want to feel that way again, so that has been keeping me in check and sticking to the plan.
We are not perfect, but remember that tomorrow is a chance to turn it all around.

I hope you're feeling better after your bad night. I've never really had a problem with night time eating but I have definitely been a stress eater. Over the years of trying to lose weight, I picked up a few ways to cope with stress instead of eating: distractions (of any sort, eg movies, reading, housework, making a phone call, web sufing), meditation, exercise, and prayer certainly never hurt. Although they haven't worked every time, these things have reduced the damage of my compulsive stress-related eating. Good luck, I hope you find some things that work for you!
We are human and today is a new day. Bru**** off and try to find an alternative to night eating. Knitting or good book. I know this may seem weird but my friend went to therapy and her Dr recommended she read very racy romance books to help keep her menopause in check...go figure...good book like that you may not want to put the book down for nothing!! Oh best yet, my friend got the racy books at the LIBRARY!
Racy books at bedtime = sex with Joe. GREAT suggestion. LOL

I allow myself to eat at nighttime; even upon waking and worrying that I won't go back to sleep if I don't eat....if I waken, I will have a teaspoon of peanut butter, or a slice of cheese with pb on top, just to get back to sleep...far cry from the old days when it would be a slice of bread or two along with same...
I can't/won't control this, so I at least make it non weight-gaining low carb...
