I travelled to Hamilton from Thunder Bay, and I couldn't have been more impressed with the whole process.  My surgeon was top-notch, the hospital staff was very attentive, and I felt cared about, and cared for, at every turn.  If you search this site, you'll find lots of info about St. Joe's experiences.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.

Hi I had my rny done at St Joes everyone was fantastic and caring I had no problems what so ever with anyone. My surgeon was great and very caring also with a great bedside manner as well as with the nurses. I wish you a great journey as well.

I had my surgery on June 29th and I found the experience completely wonderful.  Some people do have issues, but I have never had any whatsoever (except my referral initially going to Guelph, but that wasn't St. Joe's fault).

I had Dr. Hong.  He was always very nice and caring.  My stay of 2 nights was very comfortable.  The nurses were great on the floor.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

I couldn't say enough good things about the care I received.  The whole experience was nothing but positive.  Right from my first visit with a specialist in another area of St Joe's to being referred to Dr Anvari.

The information given at orientation was excellent, by the time you had surgery you should be well educated.  I found them really good for returning calls and booking more than one appointment as I was driving from out of town.

The nurses in the surgical unit made me feel really relaxed.  My last memory is a nurse patting my arm and saying "don't worry dear, we will take good care of you".  The nurses on the ward were wonderful too.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend St. Joe's.

I can't speak to the professionals you'll see throughout your journey, but trying to reach anyone by phone or have anyone call me back has been a nightmare. I've only been dealing with them for a couple of months since I've been referred there from TWH, but if I had been there for the entire assessment period and had this much trouble reaching them the whole time, I'd have gone batty.

That said, I've heard nothing but fabulous reviews of the surgeons.

all I can say is that my journey so far has been fabulous!  I am almost there!  I cannot say enough good things about how I have been treated and how comfortable I am with everyone I have seen so far.  I saw Dr. Gmora for my consult and he was fantastic!

My experience at St. Joes, like others, was excellent.  Just keep in mind that as excitted as you are to get your journey farther along it is a process and it does take time but it is worth the wait. It took me about 6 months from orientation to my surgery but that was over a year ago. I know that this program has gotten extremely popular in the last year, guess thats why there is more surgeons now, and the process is a little long now so just have patience and you will be thrilled in the end. At least I know I am.

Congrats on doing this and good luck!
